Introduction To Networking

2.0Introduction.

Tech company name sun & Consultants which is providing IT- Services from Perth, Australia
now willing to extend their branch in Melbourne with two buildings name Haper and Cacis.
Each building has two floors. The Harper first floor is having Gym Room, waiting room,
coffee shop and Reception Area.

Network known as computer networking, is the process of communicating and sharing data
between different devices via a common medium in a system of information. Networking is
not only about the design, building and usage of a network, but also about control,
preservation and running of the network infrastructure, software, and sets of protocols
(Scarpati, n.d.).

3.2Description.

The first floor of Haper has a total of 4 rooms which are reception, waiting room, gym, and
coffee shop. The reception provides information and helps the customers and staff and gym
have all the stuff required for exercise which promotes a healthy lifestyle. The waiting room
can be used for relaxation and a pleasant environment, while the coffee shop offers different
drinks and snacks for refreshment.

3.3Analysis and Justification.

Every room on the floor has all essential devices and each room is connected to a network
via internet. In reception there is one printer to print necessary documents, VoIP phone to
communicate with other departments of the office. With the help of Biometrics which can be
used for security and attendance of staff. Tv is also connected in waiting room and gym for
entertainment purposes. There is no fixed number of people in this floor.

4.0Network Diagram.

Figure 6 Network Diagram

4.1Analysis and justification.

The network diagram demonstrates how the network is connected to each other this first floor
of the harper building. In the diagram one main router relates to main switch and this switch
is connected to four different switches for each room of the floor expect restroom after this
sub switches are connected with computer, laptops, printers and VoIP, CCTV is connected to
access point device and access point is connected with main switch. To run TV, I have
connected television with cloud PT and cloud PT is also connected to Main Switch.

In this diagram Ip address start from 192.168.11.192 to 192.168.11.255 with subnet mask of
255.255.255.240.

4.2Network Devices.

Figure 7 Cisco Router ISR4331

The cisco ISR 4331 is a component of Cisco’s Integrated service router (ISR) family, it can
be used for small to medium sized businesses and corporate offices. It has all the features of
routing, security and it is equipped with Firewall, VPN, application optimalization, and
maintenance high speed WAN Connection which makes it a good choice for this network.

9
Introduction To Networking

Cisco 2960-24TT switch has a massive panel with 24 ports for plugging different network
devices. It provides extra 2 special ports to establish connection to other areas of network.
Switch helps all the network devices and host devices to communicate with one another
securely and efficiently and fast. It acts a traffic police who helps to manage traffic in real
life.

4.3Configuration.

In the network diagram, the router and switch are linked to one another. The router is a
gateway for other devices in this network that administer the local network and connect with
other networks, thus for this goal, we need to setup the router. In CLI mode, we first need to
assign a router with an IP address. In this, I have provided 192.168.10.1 as its IP address to
port gigabyte 0/0/0 and set the default gateway of other devices as 192.168.10.1. To setup
television, cloud PT is linked to the switch, and TV is connected to the cloud. Webcams are
linked to access point PT. The access point is configured with an SSID and password, and
then in the camera, after setting the SSID and password.

4.4Demonstration.

The result of this assignment is to ping the network. The testing is shown in the figure below.

Testing was done by pinging a PC in the reception area (192.168.11.193) with the PC in
the GYM (192.168.11.241)

S.N. Projected Outcome Result

1 Reply from 192.168.11.241 was expected Pinging successful

Testing was done by pinging a PC in the coffee shop (192.168.11.209) with the PC in the
Waiting Area(192.168.11.224)
2 Reply from 192.168.11.224 was expected Pinging successful

5.0Conclusion.

The job is to establish a computer network for Sun System and Consultant that contains a
range of networking equipment such as CCTVs, fingerprint scanners, VoIPs, PCs, switches
and routers, . The consulting office comprises of two buildings, Harper and Cacis, each
having two levels. I have been assigned the responsibility of developing the network for the
Harper Building's first floor. I've already done the floor design using Coohom for the
floor design and Cisco Packet Tracer for the network design. The network's overall
connectivity was successfully tested by employing adequate IP addressing and subnetting.
