A. DYADIC ACTIVITY. From the news article you have just read, write at least five
conclusions based on the discussion.

P26.86-billion worth of fake products seized in PH in 2023

1. The article explains the coordinated endeavors of different government organizations in the
Philippines, especially the Department of Customs (BOC), which arose as the first substance
liable for blocking fake items. With a stunning 94 percent of the seized merchandise credited
to BOC tasks, it's obvious that their part in protecting licensed innovation privileges is vital.

2. Moreover, the depiction of explicit items held onto by every organization reveals insight into
the expansiveness and profundity of fake exchange inside the country. From impersonation
clothing captured by the BOC to unlawful cigarettes caught by the Philippine Public Police
(PNP), obviously forgers focus on a wide cluster of ventures, presenting dangers to the two
buyers and real organizations.
3. The definite breakdown of seizures by organization highlights the cooperative idea
of the implementation endeavors, with offices like the Public Department of
Examination (NBI), the Food and Medication Organization (FDA), and the Optical Media
Board (OMB) assuming vital parts close by the BOC and PNP.

4. The proactive position of the Public Advisory group on Protected innovation

Freedoms (NCIPR) is obvious in the sheer number of tasks led consistently. By working
with quick coordination between authorization groups and protected innovation
freedoms holders, the NCIPR has been instrumental in guaranteeing the progress of
seizure tasks.
5. In the midst of the critical number of seizures, it's basic to regard the preventative
note sounded by IPOPHL's IP Freedoms Requirement Office Regulating Chief,
Christine Pangilinan-Canlapan. She features that while the large number of seizures
is characteristic of strong implementation endeavors, it may not be guaranteed to
relate with an expansion in fake exchange, provoking a nuanced comprehension of
the more extensive scene of protected innovation freedoms security in the
Philippines.
B. Read the article below. Then, do detailed reading as you answer the questions
that follow.

1.The article is called “The Pleasures of Books” because it dives immediately into the
benefits and pleasures of owning and reading books; it enhances the unique bond
readers have with their personal libraries and describes the extent to which it is a
pleasure to have one’s books. It has become a ritual.

2. Reasons for writing this article include, among others, building one’s private library and
making reading part of the daily activities. The writer wants to encourage readers to
invest in their own collections and become a part of the evolving world of literature by
demonstrating the worth of book ownership and its positive impact.
3. An acquired book is like a guest in your house, which adequately describes how they are
treated differently from personal belongings in terms of handling and emotions. As such just
as we treat guests in our homes with care and consideration, we also handle borrowed items
respectfully making sure they are returned intact. Borrowed books too must be handled with
care and returned promptly; our own however tend to be casual and loose enough that we
can scribble all over them, leave them open around or use them any way without having
consciousness of damaging another person’s property.

4. I strongly believe that the collection of books in childhood is essential for multiple reasons.
The first and foremost reason is that it develops a love for reading and gaining knowledge
from the early age, which may go on forever into adulthood. Moreover, owning books shows
responsibility and care for one’s possessions. Thirdly, having access to an individual library
offers wide opportunities for investigation and growth, enabling individuals to delve into
various subjects and perspectives. Finally, developing a personal library enhances a sense of
duty and pride among young readers thereby instilling confidence and independence.
5. When the writer indicates that writers “spread themselves out,” it can be understood as a
lot of efforts and emotions put into writing. They intended to amuse their listeners as well as
connect with them by putting all their creativity and feelings into their work. By “spreading
themselves out” authors strive to make an enduring impact on their audience by creating
stories or ideas that resonate deeply with them until now.
C. Read and scan the following passages. After which, identify the thesis statement
in each passage and make short summaries based on your comprehension.

Running a business is a complicated process that requires a thorough

plan. Managing a company can present challenges that, if not handled
properly, may change your life completely.
Owning a business presents numerous challenges that can significantly impact your life,
requiring careful management to avoid complete upheaval. While some aspire to
entrepreneurship with dreams of financial freedom and early retirement, the reality involves hard
work, time, and stress management. For instance, a single mother struggled to balance family
responsibilities with building her business from scratch over the past eight years. She faced
constant pressure to make critical decisions for the company's success. Despite the strain, diligent
effort and stress management led to her firm's current success, with hopes of selling it for $5
million. Similarly, a father's venture into a Chicago-style hot dog business initially underestimated
the challenges. Despite initial financial hurdles and the ongoing strategic complexity of the
business world, he has seen a gradual improvement in his business's economic performance.
effective business management involves not only financial considerations but also prioritizing
family time and making decisions that benefit the company's long-term growth. Success hinges on
managing stress, time, and financial obligations while staying focused on both personal and
professional goals.
