SAFE DEPOSIT LOCKERS.
DEFINITION.
 A safe deposit box, also known as a safety deposit box, is an
individually secured container, usually held within a larger safe or
bank vault.
 Safe deposit boxes are generally located in banks, post offices or
other institutions.
 The valuables stored are; jewelry, gemstones, financial or legal
papers, insurance policies, identity proof such as; passport, and
other similar items of high value.

 One of the most important Bank Locker benefits is that they are
to store your valuables safest place. The entry and exit points of
the strong room housing the lockers is tightly guarded by the
security personnel and is under CCTV surveillance.

TYPES OF HOTEL GUEST BEDS.

DEFINITION OF A GUEST ROOM.


A guest room is a bedroom in a house or hotel for visitors or guests to
sleep in.
Features of a guest room.
 Space in the room and closet for clothing and luggage.
 A comfortable bed with lots of pillows and bed covers.
 A bedside table and reading light
 A wastebasket.
 Convenient power outlets for phones and tablets.
 Towels and basic toiletries.
 Water bottles or drinking glasses.

TYPES OF BEDS IN A HOTEL.

Single bed.
o A bed assigned to one person .May have one or more beds.
o The room size or area of Single Rooms are generally between
37m2 to 45m2.

Double bed.
 A bed assigned to two people . May have one or more beds.
 The room size or area of Double Rooms are generally between
40m2 to 45m2.

Triple bed.
 A room assigned to three people .May have two or more beds.
 The room size or area of Triple Rooms are generally between 45m2
to 65m2.

King bed.
 A room with a king-sized bed. May be occupied by one or more
people.
 A room size or area of King Rooms are generally between 32m2
to 50m2.

Queen bed.
 A room with a queen-sized bed. May be occupied by one or more
people.
 The room size or area of Queen Rooms are generally between
32m2 to 50m2.

Quad bed.
 A bed assigned to four people. May have two or more beds.
 The room size or area of Quad Rooms are generally between 70m2
to 85m2.

Twin bed
 A room with two twin beds. May be occupied by one or
more people.
 The room size or area of Twin Rooms are generally between
32m2 to 40m2.

Cribs bed.
 These are available as guest loan items in hotels and are
usually collapsible to save storage space.
 They should have adequate locking mechanisms to ensure
that they do not collapse when an infant or a child is put to
sleep in them.

Rollaway or Zed Beds.
 These can be rollaway beds on rollers or casters. They generally
have a thin latex-foam mattress that rests on a base of stretched
springs attached to a rectangular folding frame.

Sofa beds
 These provide extra seating by day and a bed by night. The better
ones have a slatted wooden base with an interior-sprung
mattress.

Murphy or Scio beds.
 These beds fold up into the wall, giving the impression of a
book-shelf, a wardrobe, or a cabinet. The fitting of the unit is the
main consideration.
 These beds come in handy when rooms are let more once in 24
hours, for meetings by day and a bedroom at night.

Bed Boards.
 These are not extra beds, but they may help in enlarging a smaller
bed if necessary.
 They are pieces of wood (generally plywood) as wide as the bed
and almost as long, and may be placed between twin beds.

SAFE DEPOSIT LOCKER.
 Safe deposit locker is a facility provided by hotels to the
in-house guests to keep their valuables and important
documents in safety during their stay at the hotel.
 Hotel may provide their facility with or without charges as
per the policy.
 Nowadays most hotels provide in-room safes with codes
for locking. The safe deposit lockers have one key only for
a guest and a second independent key with the front
office cashier. So it takes the guest key and the cashier
key to open the locker.

PROCEDURE FOR ISSUING SAFE DEPOSIT


LOCKER.
1) Look for an empty locker on guest request.
2) Hand over the safe deposit locker registration card to the guest to
fill up.
3) Write down the locker number on the registration card.
4) Have the guest sign the card at two places-one as a specimen and
the other as a confirmation signature.
5) Deposit the card in the rack against the locker number.
6) Turn the cashier’s key on the locker.
7) Let guest use his/her key to open the locker.
8) Leave the premises to give privacy to the guest for keeping the
valuables.

9) Lock with the cashiers key after the guest has locked with his/her
key

PROCEDURE FOR WITHDRAWAL FROM SAFE


DEPOSIT LOCKER.
1) Escort the guest to the safe deposit locker.
2) Request the guest to open with his/her key.
3) Open the locker with the cashier’s key.
4) Ask the guest to put date and signature on the reverse of the
registration card to monitor when he/she has opened the locker.
5) Leave the guest and return only when the guest is ready. Ask the
guest to lock with his/her key and then lock with cashiers key.
6) Return the card to the safe deposit locker.

PROCEDURE FOR SURRENDERING SAFE DEPOSIT
LOCKER.
1) Escort the guest to the safe deposit locker.
2) Request the guest to open with his/her key.
3) Open the locker with the cashier’s key.
4) Ask the guest to put date and signature on the reverse of the
registration card to confirm the return of the key.
5) Let the guest empty the locker in the cashier’s presence.
6) Take possession of the locker key.
7) Lock the locker with both the keys.
8) Return the keys to the rack.
9) Post the appropriate charge (if applicable) for the use of the safe
deposit locker.
