Good afternoon Mr Dariyanto

Below I will report and provide a resume of the English Scale Up activities held
by Bhayangkara University and the University of Mindanao Philippines.
This activity is divided into five sessions held in five consecutive weeks. Each
session we were given an assignment with details of the goals each participant wanted
to achieve.
In the first week, each participant was given the task of presenting an idea
regarding a predetermined theme. Through this activity, each participant is asked to
actively speak and dare to provide arguments about the given theme.
The aim of this activity is to measure the extent of the participants' ability to
understand a problem context and how each participant dares to argue and speak in
good English grammar.
Through this activity, participants are expected to understand the meaning of a
problem theme and how to provide a comprehensive argument in English. In the second
session, each participant was asked to tell something that the participant considered
important and that object was around the participant.
Participants are asked to tell about the object. What are the advantages and
what are the disadvantages. Why the object has value and how important the object is
to the participant.
Through this activity, participants are expected to be able to explore their ability
to provide descriptions of things in English. Participants' ability to tell stories is very
necessary and vocabulary must be mastered well. Participants are given a maximum of
two opportunities in this session.
At the third meeting, each participant was asked to make three sentences
describing themselves. Two sentences must be sentences that truly describe yourself,
while one sentence must be a false sentence. Other participants are asked to guess
which of the three sentences is false and which is true.
The aim of this activity is to stimulate each participant's ability to discuss and
interact with one another. Through this session, each participant has the opportunity to

interact and chat with one another. The ability and willingness to speak English are
highly trained and emphasized in this session.
In the fourth session, each participant was given the opportunity to tell an
interesting and memorable experience that the participant had experienced. Each
participant is free to choose a theme and is free to tell their experiences according to
the chosen theme. The aim of this activity is to practice speaking skills and vocabulary
through the stories told.
At the final meeting, each participant was given a dialogue script where
participants would play each other's roles according to the script given. The aim of this
activity is for participants to be more expressive in speaking English.
