Madam Curie was the first woman who won the Nobel prize and also the first person who won the
Nobel twice. She is the only person who won a Nobel prize in two different scientific fields: physics
and chemistry. She was born in Warshaw, the Kingdom of Poland in 1867. She moved to Paris and
got married to a French physicist, Pierre Curie. She was a chemist and a physicist. She worked on
radioactive elements. She discovered Polonium and Radium. She founded the Curie Institute in
Paris in 1920, and the Curie Institute in Warsaw in 1932. Her husband died in 1906 in a Paris Street
accident. Madam Curie died in 1934 at the age of 66.
