Question #2-Explain the similarity or difference you identified citing evidence from
documents #1 & #2.
In document one, Ghana was a very complex empire. They relied strongly on trade for their wealth, they made sure their
people were fed, it had military forces and they ensured justice and political control. In document two, it describes cities Marco
Polo was at when he made his trip to Mongol-China. There is lots of trade and exports in these areas. Even while passing the
nearby areas as Marco Polo left, there were many people with items in abundance that some exported in large quantities.
Some inhabitants, and idolaters, had silk in abundance. Another place had a remarkable amount of sugar being manufactured,
and in another area they had a considerable amount of pepper being imported there. With this evidence you can see that both

Mongol Empire of 1300 AD.
It started with Temujin, also known as Chinggis Khan ("universal ruler"), gradually united all the
Mongol tribes and established an empire in the steppes. The steppes stretched all the way from
western China to eastern Europe. Even when Chinggis died, the expansion of the Mongol Empire
did not stop. There were many great Khans, the last one being Kublai Khan. He succeeded in
conquering southern China, establishing the Yuan dynasty which was also the first foreign dynasty
to rule all of China. When Kublai died the world empire founded by Chinggis came to an end.
