Scouting: A Tool for Holistic Development

Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values,
beliefs, and habits. It does not concentrate on just reading and writing but also in extracurricular activities
such as sports and scouting.
Scouting or the Scout Movement was a movement that aimed to support young people in their
physical, mental, and spiritual development, so that they could play constructive roles in society, with a
strong focus on the outdoors and survival skills. A Scout learned the cornerstones of the Scout method,
Scout Promise, and Scout Law. These were designed to instill character, citizenship, personal fitness, and
leadership in boys through a structured program of outdoor activities.
Teachers and learners of San Sebastian Elementary School participated in celebrating the School-
Based Jambo Rally on October 27, 2023.
The celebration's highlights included the games and the scouters' display of scouting signals. All
of the scouts tried to do well in all activities, including Troop Formation, Sack Race, Catching Dragons
Tail, Hoop the Loop, Longest Line, Tug of War, and other games. After playing some challenging
activities, the learners took part in a boodle fight which was funded by some of the stakeholders.
Moreover, certificates of appreciation were given to the parents who prepared and contributed
food for the pupils to eat during lunch.
SSES Teaching Staff gave thanks to all the pupils who actively participated, to the parents, PTA
Officials, and stakeholders who had been very supportive in making the activity a successful one.
