Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, TV, White Board, Visual aids

Time Allotment: 50 minutes

III. PROCEDURE

Preliminary Activities
- Prayer
- Greetings
- Energizer

A. ACTIVITY – Exponizer.

Instructions:
In this group activity, four teams of students will ----

B. ANALYSIS:

1. How did you mentally calculate the exponential values?

2. Can you think of any real-life applications where exponential notation is used?
C. ABSTRACTION

Exponential Notation

 Is there an alternative method of expressing numbers?

Example:53

Parts of the Exponential Notation

5 is the base

cubed (3) exponent

Base - is the number or variable that is being multiplied repeatedly

Exponent - specifies the number of times the base will be multiplied by itself

to read the exponential notation as

 5 to the 3rd power

 5 raised to the power of 3,
 5 to the cubed

Examples:

1. 43 = 64

2. 62 = 36

3. 92 = 81

Trivia

1. If the exponent of the base is one, it always expresses itself. 81 = 8

2. If the exponent of the base is zero, it is always equal to 150= 1

D. APPLICATION

Direction. During this activity, students will take turns coming to the front of the
classroom to answer a series of five (5) questions on the board related to the lesson.

Complete the table below.
