On the third day of March 1979, Atty. Narciso Somyden, Mr. Arsenio Munar, and Mr. Samuel
Esguerra formed Benguet Vocational School Incorporated located at km 6, Poblacion, La Trinidad,
Benguet, near the Provincial Capitol. Fueled with different opinions and career paths Atty. Narciso
Somyden decided to put up his own school at Nueva Viscaya.
Years passed, his friend asked him to continue being head of Benguet Vocational School.
After the 1990 earthquake, Atty. Narciso sustained Benguet Vocational School under the name
BVS Colleges of Technology.
In order to meet the needs of the school, a lady philanthropist donated a land area at km. 5,
La Trinidad, Benguet.
Now in order to abreast with the advent of technology, Atty. Narciso and his wife Madame
Maria Corazon, passed the management to their 5 children:

Located in the heart of La Trinidad, BVS College is a young institution that started out as a
small vocational school and has now become one of the leading providers of qualified graduates who
contribute to the region's workforce.

In 1970, they graduated and at the same year, they got married.
On the other side of joy, they could hardly find employment. Another difficulty to overcome is
the cultural variance of the two. The man cannot bring his wife home as people from his village as
his wife and at the same time the wife’s family cannot accept him. The main reason is that both are
from different places, having huge cultural differences. One is Iloko and one is Igorot.

The couple decided to be on their own, far from their families. Despite the difficulty, the two
dreamt of putting up a project and the rest is history.
