Science from Wageningen University, an MSc degree in Epidemi-


ology from the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences, and a
PhD degree in Epidemiology from Erasmus University. Previously,
she worked as researcher at Unilever, Harvard School of Public
, and UC Berkeley.

Dr. Voortman’s research focusses on the role of nutrition in
health and chronic disease risk in different life course stages,
from pregnancy and infancy to old age. The research of her
team is embedded in several large population-based cohort
studies, such as the Rotterdam Study and Generation R Study,
for which she is principal investigator. She has published over
100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and several book chapters
