I- Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Define the Cell as the basic unit of life;
b. Explain the different types of cell; and
c. Draw the Plant and Animal cell with label.

II- Subject matter:

Preparatory Activities

Greetings

Hi! Good Morning Class. Good Morning, ma'am!

How are you today?

We're doing great, ma'am
Good to hear that you’re all doing okay.

Prayer

Now, before we start, let us have first a (student leads the prayer)
prayer.

Attendance
The leaders per row states the absent
Is there anyone absent today? per member.

A. Recall

Before we proceed to our lesson, let’s

have a recap from what we have
discussed last meeting.
Introduction of Biology/Earth Science
What was our topic last meeting?

Biology is the study of life

Very good!
What is Biology again?
The major branches of life science are
the botany and zoology.
How about the major branches of life
science?

Very good!
None ma’am

Are there still any questions about the

Introduction of life science?

Before we proceed into our new topic, (A student will read the objectives.)
let us be guided with the following
lesson objectives:

a. Define the Cell as the basic unit of

life;
b. Explain the different types of cell and
their functions; and
c. Draw the Plant and Animal cell with
label.

B. Motivation

To start today’s lesson. Let’s have a

game which is called “Choose me”.

Game Mechanics:
1. Choose a paper then you will
answer the following question to
revealed our topic for today.
2. Each correct answer will receive a
prize.
3. Raise your hand if you want to
answer.
4. Have fun!

Are you ready? Yes, we are ready.

(The pre activity starts) (The students done with the pre activity)

Now, do you have any idea what will be

our topic for today?
Our topic today is about the cell

C. Lesson Proper

This pre activity relates to our new topic

for today which is the Cell

Now, let’s talk about the cell.

What is cell? Anyone from the class? (The answer may vary)
Very good!

Cell is the fundamental and functional

unit of life.

How about who discover the Cell?

Robert Hooke
Very good!

Yes, he is an English scientist was the

first to observed cell and in doing so he
named them cells.

We also have cell theory. The cell

theory was first proposed by Matthias
Schleiden (1838) and Theodore
Schwann (1939), Rudolf Virchow (1855)
later added the concept of formation of
cells to this theory.

Let’s proceed to the Types of Cell

First we have the Cell Wall

Do you have any idea what is cell wall?

Anyone from the class? (The students will answer)

Cell wall is the outer most tough and

rigid layer, which is always connected
with the cell walls of other.

Next is Cell membrane/Plasma

membrane is a semi permeable
membrane which means that is
selective of the substances that will get
in and out of the cell.

Plasmodesmata is a small opening,

which connects plants cells with each
other.

Nucleus is control center of the cell

because of the presence of genetic
material.

Nuclear membrane is the outer covering

of the nucleus.

Cytoplasm is a jellylike material that

consist of the organelles outside the
nucleous.

Vacuoles stores water and compounds,

it functions as storage, excretory and
secretory organelles.

Plastids is double membrane organelles

present in plants and other
photosynthetic organism.

Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the

cell

Endoplasmic reticulum responsible for

protein synthesis (Rough ER) and lipid
synthesis (smooth ER)

Golgi Aparatus is modifies and

packages materials

Ribosome is made up of 60% RNA and

40% protein

Lysosome is contain hydrolytic enzymes

known as digestive sacs or suicide bag
of the cell.

Centriole found in animal cell which play

a role in cell division

Flafella/Cilia for movement

And lastly, Microtubules is a hollow

tubes that make up cilia and flagella
provides structural support and allows
motion.

To get to know more about the cell, let

us have an activity. Each group will be
given materials needed for the activity.

Activity 1: “Plant and Animal Cells”

Directions: You will use the materials

provided to answer the following.

Materials:
 Cartolina
 Marker

Guide Questions:
Draw the Animal and Plant Cell and
label it.
Briefly describe.

You have 10 minutes to do the task. Students will perform the activity.

Okay times is up. Kindly go back to your

proper seats. Now prepare yourself
because I will choose two groups to 2 groups present their work in front.
perform their works.

D.Generalization

To wrap up our lesson. What is cell?

Varied answers.
How about its types?

E. Values Integration
Why do we need to study the cell?
Because most cells are too small to be

properly teaches us about the biological
processes that keep us healthy. It also
uncovers new ways to treat disease.

IV- Evaluation

Directions: Label the plant and animal cell

V- Assignment:
For your assignment, Use any reference to search the difference between plant cell
and animal cell.
