BS (Bharat Stage)-IV is an emission norms specified by Government of India to regulate the air pollutants
coming from internal combustion engine
To achieve BS-IV norms following Changes have been incorporated in Qute BS-IV (Gasoline) vehicles:
1. Fuel system venting through EVAP system which consists of following:
a. Non-vented Fuel cap
b. EVAP emission control system comprising of parts such as Canister, ECU operated Purge
control valve and one-way Valve (ROV)
c. Fuel system vented through canister vent ports.
d. Manual throttle body with provision to connect pipe from purge valve
Purge Valve
A purge valve is the part of the vehicle Evaporative Emission Control
(EVAP) system.
The EVAP system prevents fuel vapours in the fuel tank from escaping
into the atmosphere. The EVAP system traps fuel vapours from the fuel
tank and temporarily stores them in the charcoal canister.
When the engine is running under certain conditions, the fuel vapours
are purged from the canister and burned inside the engine.

Canister is filled with about a pound or two of activated charcoal. The charcoal acts like a sponge and
absorbs and stores fuel vapours. The vapours are stored in the canister until the engine starts, gets warm
and being driven.
One-way Valve:
‘TOP’ marking on ROV should face upwards. Reverse fitment will affect
fuel system venting.
