The Frog Life Cycle
(to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb”)
Eggs are laid in a pond,
. In a pond,
In a pond.
Eggs are laid in a pond
Where they are kept safe

Tadpoles hatch out from the eggs,


From the eggs,
From the eggs.
Tadpoles hatch out from the eggs
And like to swim around.

Tadpoles grows four legs,


Four legs,
Four legs.
Tadpoles grows four legs
And hops onto the land.

Frogs like to catch flies,


Catch flies,
Catch flies,
Frogs like to catch flies
With their sticky tongues.

Song Movements
As you teach your students the song, consider adding in these movements:

Part I: Eggs – Students hunch up in a little ball to pretend like they are
eggs.

Part II: Tadpoles Hatch – Students pretend to break out of the eggs and
then begin swimming.

Part III: Tadpoles Grow Legs – Students begin to hop.

Part IV: Frogs Catch Flies – Students hop and pretend to catch flies as they
sing.

My students loved these motions and learned the song very quickly! I hope
that your students will enjoy this, too!
