REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

FOREIGN LITERATURE

Aloe vera is a plant that has an emulsion-like substance within the leaves.

Aloe vera gel can be cool and soothing when it is applied on the skin. This is why it's

often employed for treating burns and skin injuries.

vera was utilized for centuries to treat ailments. Some claim that it has an additional
benefit for the skin. It improves your hair as well as makes it healthier.
The most effective form of aloe vera you can use for your skin or hair would be the
pure gel that the plant produces. It is available at any drugstore and on many
platforms online. You can also squeeze it out of leaves that have been cut from a
living plant if you have one. The gel is clear Aloe and somewhat liquid.

LOCAL LITERATURE

The Nigerian traditional soft soaps prepared using varied locally sourced raw

materials such as cocoa pod ash (Theobroma cacao) palm kernel shaft ash (Elaies

guineensis) have been evaluated for their physico-chemical properties and anti-

microbial activities using standard pharmacopoeia protocols and an in-vitro agar

diffusion bioassay method. The anti-microbial evaluation was done with and without

incorporation of Aloe vera and Ageratum conyzoides extractives into the soap

samples. Results showed that the physico-chemical properties of the soaps are

dependent on the raw materials utilised. The incorporated medicinal plants used in

this study, however, did not show any significant effect on the anti-microbial activities

exhibited by the various soaps against the bacterial and fungal test organisms.

LOCAL STUDY
Quality, price, and personal preferences are the factors that consumers

consider when buying a product. For these, the researchers came up with the idea of

the 2-in-1 organic soap and shampoo bar, a quality product to appear in the market

that may be considered a necessity by most people as it could make them save

money and feel safe to use. There was demand for the product, based on the survey

that the researchers conducted in the different barangays in Calamba within a 3-

kilometer radius from the location of the proposed business. The target market

included those aged 15 and above in the selected areas. Slovin’s formula was used

to determine the sample size of the population. The researchers will use social

networking sites, tarpaulins and flyers to attract consumers. The product would be

produced by using the melt and pour process. The manufacturing plant will be in

Brgy. Bucal, Calamba, Laguna, which is accessible to a wide range of potential

customers. The price of the product will be based on the cost of production with a

50% margin and it is expected to increase every year. The proposed business can

recover its initial investment of Php1,320,000 in 4.19 years using the discounted

payback period. The form of ownership to be adopted by the business is partnership

and the business would be named Pristine Botanicals which represents the

proposed product. The establishment of the proposed business would benefit the

society by providing job opportunities to the people and contributing revenues to the

government through its taxes. The business would help the environment by reducing

plastic wastes used by the consumers, and by ensuring the cleanliness of the place

of the business through implementation of proper waste disposal. It was

recommended that the proposed business be pursued for its viability in the market.

The company must maintain the quality of the product, use good marketing strategy

to attract more customers and have different variants available in the market as the
business grows. It was also recommended for future researchers to consider the

residents of nearby towns of Calamba City as the target market of the business.
