Chapter 1

Background of the study and it’s problem

Music a universal language deeply ingrained in humans culture for centuries,

posseses the remarkable capacity to elicit emotions, stimulate the intellect, and enrich

various facts of daily life. Learning has long captivated the attention of researchers. One

intriguing aspect worth exploring is the connection between music genres and the

learning styles of Senior Highschool students.

The Senior Highschool phase represents a pinotal juncture in a student’s academic

journey, characterized by the demand for effective learning methologies and the

cultivation of unique learning styles. Leaning styles denote the distinct approaches

individuals employ to acquire, process, and retain information, encompassing auditory,

visual, kinesthetic, or a blend of sensory preference. These over a student’s approach to

learning.

Music is a multifaceted art form, presents an extensive amay of genres, each

distinguished by it’s unique tempo,rhythm instrumentation, and emotional rasonance. It

stands to reason diverse music genres may exert varying effects on student’s learning

styles and academic performance

The existing body of research in this domain remains relatively spanseand often

yields inconclusive findings. Some studies suggest that specific music genres, such as

classical or instrumental music, might enhance, concentration and cognitive abilities,

rendering them conductive to studying or taste requiring focused attention. Conversely

more energetic genres like rock or pop music may syimulate motivate and creativity,

potentially benefiting specific learning styles.

However, the relationship between music genres and learning styles proves

intricate and multifaceted. Factors such as individual, preferences cultural backgrounds,

and the precise academic taste at hand can all shape how music influences a student’s

learning experience.

Given the scarcity of comprehensive research in this field. The primary objective

of this study is to investigate the correlation between music genres and the learning styles

of senior highschool students by scrutinizing how distinct genres impact student’s

concentration, motivation, and overall academic performance, this study aims to offer

valuable insights for educators, students, and parents alike. These insights hold the

potential to inform the of tailored learning strategies that harness music as a tool to

enhance learning outcomes, catering to the diverse needs and preferences of senior

highschool students additionally, this research msy contribute to a deeper understanding

of music’s role in education and it’s capacity to optimize the learning experience in the

digital age.

Statement of the problem

This study is primary aims to know the relationship between music genres and senior

highschool student’s at home (1) What are the learning styles that the students use while

studying at home? (2) Does the Music Genres (popular, pop, and rock music) affects to

the students learning style? (3) What is the relationship of music genres and student`s

learning style at home?

Significance of the study

The objective of this study is to know the relationship of music to student’s learning

style at home. The study will be conducted at Bulihan Integrated National Highschool

(BINHS) with the selected 60 student’s as respondents. This study will be relevant to the

following:

Students:

This research can benefit Senior Highschool student’s by helping them identify the music

genres that enhance their learning styles, potentially leading to improve academic

performances and a more enjoyable study experience

Parents:

Parents can use the findings to guide their children in creating an effective home learning

space and provide them with music choices that support their learning style.

Educators:

Teacher’s and educators can use the findings to tailor their teaching methods and suggest

appropriate music genres to students, enhancing the learning experience

Future Researchers:

Future researcher can use the findings and gathering of data to contribute to the broader

understanding of the impact of music on student’s learning styles and how it is

significance on improving their cognitive process.

Scope and delimitation

This study was focused on the relationship and the opportunities of the student’s

learning a music, and it’s impact of it’s in learning at home, the objective we’re limited to

the student’s who loves music in Bulihan Integrated National Highschool (BINHS), and

the opportunities to learn the student’s of it.

The respondent we’re limited to the 60 student’s of Bulihan Integrated National

Highschool (BINHS), selected throught purposive sampling the data we’re collected

using correctional survey forms the period of the study was form october to February.

Analysis:

Analysis is the process of examining something in detail to understand it’s components,

structure, and function.

Genres:

Genre is a category or classification used to group creative works such as literature,

music, art, or film, based on shared characteristics, themes, or stylistic elements

Learning style:

Learning style is an individual preffered or characteristics way of acquiring, processing,

and retaining information and knowledge music. Music is a form of artistic expression

that consists of organized sounds rythms, and melodies

Preference:

Preference is a personal inclination or choice for one option, item, action, or outcome

over others based on individual likes, taste, or desire

Questionnaire:

Quationnaire is a structured tool or survey consisting of a series of questions or prompts

designed to gather information, opinions, or data from individuals.
