1. COMPANY PROFILE

Byzantium Uganda Limited was established in 2019, and Incorporated in


2021, as a human resource management consultancy firm. Byzantium
Uganda Limited is qualified for the provision of manpower supply services
and visa and work permit application services.
The company has an experienced and competent team of members who have
skills and qualifications in Human Resource Management. Byzantium
Uganda Limited is located in Kisugu, Kampala Uganda, with P.O.BOX
22144.

Byzantium Uganda Limited is a Human Resource Solution Provider and


Management Consultancy firm in Uganda. We offer a wide range of human
resource services to our clients in diverse industries and sectors in Uganda
and East Africa. Our niche is providing top-drawer HR solutions and
services to the oil and gas industry and other production sectors.

Our understanding of the market and expertise in a targeted search


approach ensures that we are able to reach the finest and most outstanding
candidates in the particular industry within the required time frame. Given
that we have successfully executed a number of recruitment assignments,
Byzantium Uganda Limited has been able to build a strong database of
high-class candidates. We network, identify the sources and prospects,
establish and nurture relationships with quality candidates, and enrich our
database continuously. Our experienced and trained team of consultants
operate using well-designed systems and processes to deliver top-notch

1.2 Our Services

 Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

Byzantium Uganda Limited provides both local and international companies


with Recruitment Services through sourcing, screening, and selecting
candidates for job openings. Our recruitment services include but are not
limited to; advertising positions on social media platforms, screening,
interviews, and shortlisting candidates, carrying out background checks,
and hiring and onboarding of employees.
We advertise on the different social media websites like LinkedIn, Facebook,
WhatsApp, and also engage the local Media houses like New Vision and
Daily Monitor to run the different ads in the newspapers.

For sourcing, we carry out an active search for new candidates to fill a
vacancy for a certain position. We start this process by gathering data about
potential applicants, like their names, professional and academic
qualifications and professional titles. This information is collected on job
websites (including our company website https://www.globalelitein.com/
social media websites, and job unions.
The screening process usually happens right after the sourcing of the
candidates and this encapsulates activities such as resume screening,
telephonic screening, written interviews, face to face screening and
background checks.

After completion of the screening process, we then go ahead to identify


candidates form our applicant pool who best meet the required and desired
criteria and these are shortlisted to move forward to the next step in the
recruitment process. When the screening and shortlisting process is
complete, we go ahead to carry out background checks. The purpose of
these is to verify and authenticate the information provided to us by the
candidates in their profiles. After background checks have been carried out,
we then proceed to hire and onboard the candidates.

The onboarding process requires taking the candidates through induction


and orientation. All these are done meticulously in an effort to promote

efficient

flow in managing the hiring process and ensuring the right talent is placed
in the right role.

 Payroll Administration

Our payroll services are designed to compensate employees for their work
done. The functions of payroll administration include calculation of total
wage earnings, withholding deductions, filing payroll taxes and delivering
the payment. We also manage employee benefits program through providing
insurance for the employees such as medical insurance and workman
compensation benefits.

We also enhance compliance with the relevant laws and regulations by


ensuring the organization’s HR Policies are in sync with the Labour laws
prevalent at the country. We also set up a policy in place to ensure
compliance.

 HR Compliance, Risk Management and Legal Support

We promote HR compliance through clearly defining policies and procedures


to ensure employees in the work place demonstrate a thorough
understanding of the applicable laws and regulations. An example of these
is the HR Manual to ensure compliance to the laws and regulations of the
country, the HSE policies to ensure safety in the work place.

Risk management is identifying potential employee related HR risks before


they happen. These could include employee behavior and ineffective
management styles in the work place.

 Performance Management

To assess performance management, we design and implement performance


evaluation systems, provide training on performance feedback, and support
the development of performance improvement plans.

We also carry out continuous communication of and clarifying job


responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, development planning
that optimize an individual’s performance and aligns with organizational
strategic goals. We employ performance management as a tool to boost
employee engagement and productivity.

 Employee Onboarding and Off boarding

This is a system of developing comprehensive onboarding programs,


facilitating smooth transitions, and ensuring compliance with legal and
regulatory requirements during employee separations. Byzantium Uganda
Limited offers an effortless onboarding and off boarding program for its
clients.

 HR Policy Development

Byzantium Uganda Limited assists in the creation and implementation of


HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure compliance,
consistency, and fairness for her clients.

 Training and Development


This is a system of educating employees within an organization/company. It
includes various tools, instructions, and activities designed to improve
employee performance and it is an opportunity for employees to increase
their knowledge and upgrade their skills.

We carry out three types of training which include: induction, on the job,
and off the job training. The purpose of these trainings is to enhance
employee performance, boost employee productivity, reduce employee
turnover, and improve company culture. This system of training and
development helps the employees to improve their skills and knowledge, and
therefore grow in their careers.

At Byzantium Uganda Limited, we have a robust training plan that focuses


on skilling the employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to soar
higher in their careers and continue to thrive at their workplace.

 Visa/Work Permit Application


The government of Uganda introduced a Visa/permit application system
with effect from 1st July 2016 where by all persons intending to travel to
Uganda for trade, work, tourism or other reasons must apply for a Visa or
Permit in order to abide with the national immigration and foreign laws,
guidelines and formalities of the Republic of Uganda.

In the same manner, foreign nationals intending to enter Uganda for


purposes of employment should comply with requirements for expatriate
employment in Uganda. Byzantium Uganda Limited also processes work
permits or visas for our clients or people intending to travel or work in
Uganda.

 Outsourcing/Sub-contracting
The Outsourcing packages are always structured to meet the particular
requirements of our clients with particular attention to quality standards.
These include, on-shoring, near shoring, and headhunting high-level CV’s.

As a corporate partner to clients, we source professionals with high


intellectual capabilities to help enhance the client’s human capital on one
hand, and on the other, we help individuals optimize their career choices.
We have accumulated vast experience in outsourcing to international
companies operating in the oil and gas sector (oil exploration and
production), power sector (electricity generation), telecommunication,
manufacturing and service sectors.

Employee relations is majorly an organization’s efforts to create and


maintain a positive relationship with its employees. By maintaining positive,
constructive employee relations, organizations hope to keep employees loyal
and more engaged in their work.

We also employ a relations manager under the Human Resource


Department who acts as a liaison or intermediary between employees and
managers, and either creating or advising on the creation of policies around
employee issues like fair compensation, useful benefits, proper work-life
balance, reasonable working hours, resolving conflicts, addressing
grievances, and providing resources for personal and professional
development and also maintaining compliance with employment laws and
regulations of the organization.

years) who deliver the Manpower supply related services.
