DUTY OF UNION GOVERNMENT TOWARDS STATE

GOVERNMENT

M.ABDUL MUJEEF, A.R. NITISH KUMAR, VIJAY 1

ABSTRACT:

There are many duties that are to be followed by the union government towards the state
government. The relations between the union and the state are based on the division of
powers between the governing parties. These relations are classified into Three types they are
1. LEGESLATIVE RELATIONS: Articles 245 to 255 of the constitution.

2. ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONS: Articles 256 to 263 of the constitution.

3. FINANCIAL RELATIONS: Articles 268 to 293 of the constitution.

The union government divides the total powers that are given to the state government. The
union government has to make laws which has to be given to the state government and the
state government has to follow the rules and laws that are given by the union government. In
this project I am going to discuss the duties that are to be followed by both ; union and the
state government. And what are the problems faced by the union and the state government in
their own governance. In our constitutional system it says that the powers among various
states is equal; but it is not true that the powers are divided equally among the states. In many
of the places/states, the state government will not be happy with the decision made by the
central/union government. but the main relation between the union government and the state
government are legislative, administrative and financial relations. These three are the
governing relations between the central and the state government. We will discuss about this
in detail in the project, and let us understand how the union government and the state
government are interrelated. And how they function in a manner in which they both are
related.
