Welcome to your step-by-step navigation guide to MyLab IT – your platform for

practical learning.

Getting Started – Check your system requirements:

Getting Started – Registration:

Please do not attempt to register yourself - wait until you receive your registration
confirmation email from Pearson and/or UNISA gives you the go ahead!

Once registered, you will receive an email (see example below) from Pearson,
welcoming you to MyLab IT. It will contain your username and a URL to the log in
page. For your password, please refer to Step 3 in the next section.

Please note the course ID that appears in the email is just for admin purposes.
However, you will need your course ID should you need to contact Pearson Support
so keep it safe!

Getting Started – Accessing MyLab IT:

Step 1: Go to URL
> Open your browser (we’d recommend Chrome).
> Visit https://mlm.pearson.com/global/ by adding/typing the URL into your search
bar to open the MyLab IT website (please see example below). Alternatively, click on
the URL linked in your registration email.

Step 2: Sign In
> Click on Sign In (see example below).

Step 3: Username and Password

> Add your credentials:
1. Username: StudentNumber.unisa2023.sem1
(ex. 10382692.unisa2023.sem1)
(PLEASE NOTE: the above is an EXAMPLE; you need to replace
“StudentNumber” with your unique assigned UNISA student ID)

2. Password: Pearson123
(We encourage you to change this upon first log in to ensure
your MyLab IT profile remains secure)

Step 4: Enter your course

> Once you have logged in, you will see a square containing course information -
this is your course.
> Click on the course name (this is in black and bold letters).

To sign in later:

> Go to https://mlm.pearson.com/global/
> Select Sign In.
> Enter your Pearson MyLab IT username (ex. 10382692.unisa2023.sem1) and
password (ex. Pearson123) and click Sign In.
> Select the course name (this is in black and bold letters) to start your work.

Completing your comprehensive learning:

> Select Course Materials.

Under each Microsoft application, you will find the relevant comprehensive
learning material which includes:
# eText (eBook) with all activities and skills you need to master
# simulations which are short videos that show you how to perform tasks
# pre-tests
# Assessment which is aligned to our teaching and learning plan

Completing your assignments:

> Select the assignment you’d like to complete (ex. Word Assignment 2).

Now follow the number sequence as listed below.

> Select Step 1 to download all files and material you will need for assignment.

Step 2: complete the activity using the files and material you just download.
PLEASE NOTE: these files and material are unique to your MyLab IT profile so
please ensure you do not share with another user or use files previously
downloaded by another user.

Select Preview Steps in Step 2 to see point values for assignments. Follow the
instructions provided (see example below) and complete the assignment on your
computer/device:

> Once your assignment is completed, got to Step 3, click on Choose File and
upload the file you just completed.

> Your final step is Step 4. Click Submit for Grading and await feedback which will
be available via the MyLab IT gradebook. Please make sure that you have
submitted your assignment. Some students in the past have done pre-tests and
assumed these are the actual assignments that are linked to our teaching and
learning plan.

Checking your assignments and due dates:

> Select Calendar on the main menu.

> Select To Do or Completed to view when assignments are due and if anything is
outstanding.

> Once selected, you’ll be able to see all your assignments as in the below example.

> To see all assignment marks, even after the past due date, select Grades on the
main menu.

PLEASE NOTE:
1. Assignments that are passed due can still be submitted, however, you would
need to go to Grades to see your marks.
2. The To-do list will be able to show you all your assignments (past due
assignments as well as upcoming assignments).

Integrity Violations (aka plagiarism alerts!):

This is when the program picks up plagiarism from one student to another. Once
the system picks up that one student has potentially submitted work that was done
by another student- it will flag it for plagiarism. When the system detects that you
downloaded a document and shared it with other students, even though each
student did their own work but if you use the same downloaded document or a
copy of the downloaded document, the below image will appear.

institution, and your unique MyLab IT username on hand. Screenshots of your issue

Once you’ve clicked on above mentioned link, you will land on the below page. Go
ahead and select the Student tab.

From here, you can select the potential issue to see troubleshooting steps:

Alternatively, you can proceed to log the issue.

To do this, please fill in the required information as per the below form:

Once you’ve completed and submitted the form, you’ll be directed to the below
page from where you can contact the support team via telephone or a live Chat
function. Our support team provides service on weekdays (Monday to Friday)
between 08h30 – 17h00 (UK Time Zone).

You can also send a screenshot of your issue through to the support team to get
assistance.
