ACTIVITY PROFILE
I. Title of Activity Revisiting Policies and Guidelines on the
Implementation of Catch-up Fridays, Comprehensive
Sexuality Education, Child Rights Policy and DepEd
Child Protection Policy

II. Rationale DepEd Order No. 22, s. 2023, titled Implementing

Guidelines on School Calendar and Activities for SY2023–
2024, specifies that in January 24-26 and 29–30, 2024,
In-Service Training for Teachers will take place. This is
part of the ongoing effort to provide high-quality
professional development programs for teachers and
school officials. Having the opportunity to share with
peers what can be learned about both professional and
personal development is one of the benefits of in-service
training. (Memorandum DM -OUHRD-2024-0037)

When reviewing policies and procedures, the school can

stay current with emerging technology and regulations
while adhering to standards of excellence. The policies
help safeguard the school, staff and the clienteles and
customers being served because they are more
dependable and efficient. The best way to proactively
review policies and procedures is through in-service
trainings held usually during semestral breaks.

This year, the Department of Education (DepEd) has

directed all public elementary and secondary schools
across the country to concentrate on a crucial component

of its learning recovery program, known as "Catch-Up

Fridays." DepEd launched the program on January 12
and described it as a "learning mechanism" meant to
reinforce social, foundational, and other pertinent skills
required to fulfill the goals of the basic education
curriculum. To clarify the guidelines regarding the
implementation of the program, the INSET will revisit
DepEd Memorandum No. 001, s. 2024 titled
Implementation of Catch-up Fridays. Likewise, teachers
will revisit the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of
Comprehensive Sexuality Education (DepEd Order No. 31,
s. 2018), Child Rights Policy (DepEd Order No. 31, s.
2022) and Child Protection Policy (DepEd Order No. 40, s.
2012). This will further ensure provision of learning
environments that are safe, secure, fair and supportive in
order to promote learner responsibility and achievement.
