BUSBARS
In the ZR-W type switchgear the following types of busbar systems are applied:
• primary busbars,
• distribution busbars,
• protective earth and neutral busbars (PE+N/PEN).
Primary busbars
Phase and neutral N primary busbars (protective earth-neutral PEN applied for 4-wire cable) are located at the
top of the switchgear in the busbar compartment. For 6300 A current, the upper busbar compartment is expanded
with an extension with primary busbars, which increases the volume of the switchgear. Protective earth primary
PE busbars (for 5-wire cable system) are located in the front at the lower part of the cubicle along its head.

INSTAL-BLOK switchgears are designed for indoor installation. They can be set directly on the concrete ground
of the facility. Regardless of the flooring, switchgears must be placed horizontally (maximum deviation in surface
profile shall be 2 mm over a 1 m gauge length). The switchgear (a single cell) should be fixed to the ground with
four M8 bolts as shown in Figure 1. During switchgear installation, particular attention should be paid to save
enough space between the switchgear and other facility elements according to applicable regulations.

Capacitors banks
4 / BK, BKD - Capacitors banks
INTRODUCTION
In an electricity system the reactive power industry influences the quality deterioration of the energy network
parameters and the increase of electricity charges. The ZPUE S.A. company has in its offer solutions for
compensation of the inductive and capacitive reactive power, such as:
• capacitor banks,
• capacitor banks with protective chokes,
• Capacitor banks (to be agreed upon with the manufacturer, after completing an analysis of the energy network
parameters of the facility).

GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF CAPACITOR BANK SELECTION
The role of the reactive power in total power consumption is determined by two coefficients.
The first is the power coefficient cosφ, which was presented in relation (1.1)
P(kW)
cosφ= (1.1)
S(kVA)
When the cosφ is closer to one, the role of the reactive power is smaller.
Energy suppliers usually use the power coefficient tgφ in their settlement contracts.
A power coefficient tgφ was received from the relation (1.2)
Er(kvarh)
tgφ= (1.2)
Ea(kWh)
When the tgφ is closer to 0, the supply of the reactive power is smaller.
On the basis of received tgφ and required active power, the indicative power of the capacitor banks can be
calculated. The QBat capacitor banks' power is determined from the relation (1.3)
QBat= P∙(tgφ-tgφdop) (1.3)
tgφ corresponds to – power coefficient required by the power plant.

Attention!
In order to select capacitor banks properly, it is necessary to meter the electricity network in the facility.
Applying rectifiers, power inverters and frequency inverters to modern receiving devices is very often the main
cause of voltage and current deformation, which results in a change in their sinusoidal waveform. They include
numerous harmonics , which are an undesirable phenomenon, because they reduce the lifetime of the electrical
devices. This phenomenon is particularly dangerous in relation to the capacitor bank. A condenser reactance is
reduced when the frequency is higher. In consequence, a high voltage current flows through the capacitor and
causes damage. In order to protect the capacitor banks against the adverse effects of higher harmonics, protection
chokes connected in series with capacitors are used.
The level of disturbance present in the network (the number of harmonics) is defined by THD coefficient.
Depending on the THD coefficient, the capacitor bank type is chosen.
THD ≤ 15% Capacitor bank with normal capacitors (Un Kond = 400 V)
15% ≤ THD ≤ 25% Capacitor bank with reinforced capacitor banks (Un Kond = 440 V)
25% ≤ THD ≤ 50% Capacitor bank with compensation chokes

Low voltage switchgears
5 / LV cable boxes
INTRODUCTION
ZPUE S.A. company manufactures cable boxes on the basis of its SKR type cubicles made of reinforced
fiberglass composites or metal. They are the basic elements of the LV cable electricity grid. They are used for
energy distribution, metering and protection against overload and short-circuit effects in low voltage cable grids,
depending on intended requirements. Cable boxes enable disconnection from the low voltage cable route and the
power supply to the recipient thanks to the inner supply line. They function as fittings or loop-throughs.
ZPUE S.A. has in its offer a wide variety of boxes: cable, metering, and cable-metering, which were developed in
close collaboration with the power distribution companies. Cable, metering-cable and metering boxes are
manufactured based on thermosetting and metal cubicles, which can be installed outside buildings as free-
standing with the fundament or wall-mounted, or installed in the wall of the building.

5.3 / Sou, RSOU - Street lighting cubicle
The cubicles are made of bent aluminum sheet, which is previously degreased, phosphated and powder-
painted in any color or material (glass fibre reinforced polyester). Cubicle made of aluminum sheet has double
roof, which prevents water vapour condensation. The construction is installed on the concrete fundament
(views and dimensions of prefabricated concrete fundaments are presented in chapter “Cable boxes in
aluminum cubicles” in 5.2 point). Lightweight construction from aluminum sheet ensures easier transport and
installation. Manufacturing technology and the advantages of the cubicles are described in chapter “Cable,
metering and cable-metering boxes in plastic cubicles”.

7 / Thermosetting cubicles
INTRODUCTION
In response to customers' needs in the area of delivery of high quality cable cubicles made of thermoset
fiberglass reinforced polyester SMC, the ZPUE S.A. company manufactures the best quality SKRD and SKRF type
thermosetting cubicles thanks to a modern machine park and excellent human capital. Taking careful note of the
customers' opinion of already existing technical solutions and suggestions for their potential modifications, we
have manufactured a range of cable-distribution cubicles “SKR”, adapted to the national power distribution
companies' requirements. Our company, as a leading manufacturer, constantly develops production technology,
which results in the highest quality products. All products offered have the necessary certificates.
108 www.zpue.pl
Production technology
A very important element, which guarantees the highest construction quality and the long life of the cubicle is
its material. ZPUE S.A. uses its long-standing contacts with industrial chemical manufacturers in Europe, and the
knowledge and experience of people who deal with SMC material treatment technology. The materials used in the
cubicle production process consist of a range of components fulfilling the requirements of mechanical, thermal and
UV resistance, which guarantees the long life of our cubicles.
Field of application
Thermosetting cubicles, thanks to their universality, can be widely used in the energy and telecommunication
industry. They are made of isolating and self-extinguishing material and flame retardant composite: (polyester +
fiberglass – SMC) and they are characterized by high weather conditions resistance (UV). Its modular
construction allows any combination of the cubicle with the fundament, extension or cable pocket, and for
connecting cubicles in a horizontal or vertical arrangement. Various dimensions allow selecting the cubicle
according to the customer's needs or equipment used. The specially developed internal construction of the cubicle
with additional elements integration allows quick and convenient equipment and apparatus installation inside the
cubicle. The cubicles are powder-painted in the standard colour: RAL 7035. Upon customer's request, they can be
covered with a special coating of plastic in any colour from the RAL palette.
www.zpue.pl 109
Compliance with standards
Insulated cubicles type SKRD and SKRF with equipment are in compliance with following directives:
Directive of the European Parliament (No. 2014/35 / EU) directive the use of hazardous substances (RoHS 2011/65
/ EU), and Directive (No. LVD 2014/35 / EU) on the harmonization of the laws of the Member States relating to
making available on the market of equipment electrical for use within certain voltage limits and meet marketing
standards.
Products presented in this catalogue have been tested by the ILE in Warsaw and BBJ-SEP Lublin and meet the
safety requirements of the following standards:
• PN-EN 62208:2011E – “Empty enclosures of low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies.
