2017: Program Specifications
What is BSAIS?
Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System, BSAIS, is an
academic program that combines the knowledge of information
technology with the fundamentals of accounting.
Integration of Accounting and IT:
The curriculum goes beyond just imparting knowledge in separate
subjects. It highlights the applicability of accounting principles in
the digital age. One will gain knowledge on how to create, put
into place, and manage accounting information systems that
satisfy the demands of businesses.

The BSAIS program aims to:

The BSAIS curriculum must include at least 167 credit units,
distributed among the following areas:
1. Accounting, finance and
related knowledge

2017: Required Resources

Administration:
Full-time Dean/Chair/ Director that is
✓ a Filipino Citizen
✓ Registered Professional Accountant
✓ 5 years teaching experience
✓ 2 years administrative experience
✓ Holder of master's degree in relative field
✓ Member in good standing of the accredited professional
organization of CPA's

Faculty Qualifications & Requirements:
✓Master's degree in Accounting or related field (required)
✓CPA license for accounting courses (required)
✓Industry experience desirable (not required)
✓Effective teaching skills & methodologies
✓Research & scholarship encouraged
✓Continued professional development crucial
✓At least 30% courses taught by full-time faculty
✓Part-time faculty with relevant qualifications allowed

BSAIS Facilities & Equipment Checklist:
✓ Computer Labs: Enough PCs, powerful specs, licensed accounting
software, high-speed internet.
✓Software Variety: Different industry standards, regular updates, training
support.
✓Library: Accounting books, journals, online databases, expert librarian.
✓Internet: Ubiquitous, high-speed, secure, access to educational
resources.

Overall: Modern, diverse, well-maintained facilities to give BSAIS students


the edge.

2017: Assessment
Assessment
• CHED will conduct regular assessments of BSAIS programs
to ensure they are meeting the standards set forth in
CMO No. 30 s. 2017.
• The assessment will cover the following areas:
✓ Curriculum
✓Faculty
✓Facilities
✓Graduates' performance

Transitory, Repealing and Effectivity Provisions

1. Transitory Provision:

• Existing institutions with authorization to offer the BSAIS program


have three years from the CMO's effectivity date to comply with
all its requirements.

• However, the minimum curricular requirements for accounting


and information systems core courses must be implemented
starting the next academic year (AY 2018-2019).

Transitory, Repealing and Effectivity Provisions

2. Repealing Clause:
• Any previous administrative issuances that contradict or are
inconsistent with the provisions of CMO No. 30 s. 2017 are
deemed automatically repealed, rescinded, or modified.

3. Effectivity Clause:
• The CMO took effect 15 days after its publication in the Official
Gazette or a newspaper of national circulation.
• Full implementation started with the AY 2018-2019
