INTERNET AND COMPUTING FUNDAMENTALS

Pangyan National High School
Grade 7
Section: ______________
Date: ______________

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
1. Recognized the components and purposes of the internal parts of the System Unit

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Learning the basics of computers
Subtopic: IDENTIFY THE PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF PROCESSING DEVICE
Reference: turbofuture.com

Materials: Laptop,PC, multimedia projector, System Unit,Video Presentation “How to Assemble a System Unit? (can be downloaded
on YouTube)”, handouts (information sheets)

III. Procedure:
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
A.1 Prayer
A.2 Greetings
A.3 Classroom management
A.4 Checking of attendance
A.5 Review of past lesson (The teacher will call student/s to recap the lesson.)

B. ACTIVITY

1. Prepare the Video Presentation on “How to Assemble a System Unit?” using MultiMedia Projector, and let the students
watch.
2. After the video shown, let the students analyze and summarize the video.

C. ANALYSIS

The teacher will collate the ideas of the students. Each of the student’s ideas will be connected through the following guide questions:

1. Do you think class that assembling System Unit is easy?

2. In your own opinion? How is important is System Unit?

D. ABSTRACTION

With the use of PowerPoint presentation, the teacher will discuss WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS AND PURPOSES OF
INTERNAL PARTS OF SYSTEM UNIT:

The SYSTEM UNIT is the box-like case that contains the electronic components of computer. Many people erroneous to
this as the CPU. Here you will find devices like the Power Supply, different Drives, the fan, the connectors, and the motherboard.
Note that in most cases, the monitor, keyboard, and the mouse will not be found inside the system unit layout.

Other names for the System Unit include the

Computer Cases, SYSTEM UNIT cabinet, box, tower, enclosure,
MOTHERBOARD
housing, or simply case.
Optical Drives – retrieve and/or store data on Expansion Slot – is an opening or socket, where
optical disc like CDs, DVDs, and BDs (Blu-ray you can insert a circuit board into the
discs), any of which hold much more motherboard.
information than previously available portable
media options like floppy disk.
Parts of System Unit Connectors:

 PS/2 Mouse Port  LAN Port

 PS/2 Keyboard Port  USB Ports
 Serial Port  RJ45 Network
 HDMI Port  Parallel Port
 VGA Port  Audio Ports (Speaker/Line in/Mic)

E. APPLICATION
