DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND EQUALITY

Diversidad, inclusión e igualdad.

Universities can promote inclusion in different ways. First, there are diverse
student organizations on campus, such as clubs, where students with different
interests can join. Second, there are also inclusive policies to ensure that
students with disabilities have equal access to education. Third, there are
events and workshops to create an inclusive environment.

- Las universidades pueden promover la inclusión de diferentes maneras.

Primero, hay diversas organizaciones estudiantiles en el campo, tales
como clubes, en donde los estudiantes con diferentes intereses pueden
unirse. Segundo, hay también políticas inclusivas para garantizar que
estudiantes con discapacidades tengan igual acceso a la educación.
Tercero, hay eventos y talleres para crear ambientes inclusivos.

UNLaM recognizes the diverse experiences of all its students and that there is
diversity in society in general. It also understands that inequality often has
adverse consequences that can marginalize people. For this reason, there are
different programmes to promote inclusion and avoid discrimination.
- UNLaM reconoce las experiencias diversas de todos sus estudiantes y
que hay diversidad en la sociedad en general. También entiende que la
desigualdad a menudo tiene consecuencias adversas que pueden
marginalizar a las personas. Por esta razón, hay diferentes programas
que promueven la inclusión y prohiben la discriminación.

For example, UNLaM offers (a) the Integrated Tutoring System, coordinated
by the Department of University Pedagogy, to reduce low academic
performance in English and other subjects. This system promotes the
continuity of their education and facilitates the students’ adaptation to
university life with the accompaniment of a tutor. (b) There is the Students’
Welfare Department that advises and accompanies students by offering them
various benefits such as the Monetary Scholarship Programme, (c) the
Disability Programme for the inclusion of students with disabilities, (d) the
Protocol of Institutional Action for situations of violence and gender or sexual
orientation discrimination, (e) the Internship Programme, which helps students
to access the labour market.
- Por ejemplo, UNLaM ofrece: a) el Sistema de Tutorías Integradas,
coordinado por el Departamento de Pedagogía de la Universidad, para
deducir el bajo rendimiento académico en Inglés y otras materias. Este
 sistema promueve la continuidad de su educación y facilita la
adaptación del estudiante a la vida universitaria con el
acompañamiento de un tutor. (b) Está el Departamento de Bienestar
Estudiantil que aconseja y acompaña a los estudiantes ofreciéndoles
varios beneficios tales como el Programa de Becas Monetarias, © el
Programa de Discapacidad para la inclusión de estudiantes con
discapacidades, (d) el Protocolo de Actuación Institucional para
situaciones de violencia y discriminación por género u orientación
sexual, (e) el Programa de Prácticas que ayuda a los estudiantes a
acceder al mercado laboral.

UNLaM, like all higher education institutions, is entitled under law (Higher
Education Act 24521) to offer support and guidance to all students, especially
students with disabilities. That way, everyone feels valued and respected.

bajo una ley (Ley de Educación Superior 24521) para ofrecer y guiar a
todos los estudiantes, especialmente a estudiantes con
discapacidades. De esa manera, todos se sienten valorados y
respetados.
