Mayo Clinic Specialty Rotation

Section 1: Introduction:
Throughout many of my clinical rotations, I have learned about the vastness that ranges
from facility to facility. There is a very large difference between a rural hospital like Dickinson
ND versus a larger facility such as Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND – even greater at a facility as
large as Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Every hospital has its own mission and values to provide
care for patients. Because I will be considering a facility such as Mayo Clinic to begin my first
RT position, it is important that I have a great understanding of how my clinical experience,
scope of practice and exposure corresponds to and differs from a larger city and facility. For
these reasons I propose to complete a specialty rotation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Section 2: Learning Goals

It is important to grow in as much experience as possible during this time allotted to
learn. Since this opportunity will give me an opportunity to experience a larger, level one,
facility that I may desire to be a part of post-graduation, I would like to spend time in clinical at
Mayo Clinic.
Learning Goals
1. By the end of this specialty rotation, I will be able to describe the scope of practice in the
different clinical specialties in a larger clinical facility.

well as adult, pediatric, and neonatal ventilator assessments.
