Specialty Rotation Mayo
Specialty Rotation Mayo
Specialty Rotation Mayo
Section 1: Introduction:
Throughout many of my clinical rotations, I have learned about the vastness that ranges
from facility to facility. There is a very large difference between a rural hospital like Dickinson
ND versus a larger facility such as Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND – even greater at a facility as
large as Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Every hospital has its own mission and values to provide
care for patients. Because I will be considering a facility such as Mayo Clinic to begin my first
RT position, it is important that I have a great understanding of how my clinical experience,
scope of practice and exposure corresponds to and differs from a larger city and facility. For
these reasons I propose to complete a specialty rotation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
3. PICU Experience
1. I will independently complete a pediatric ventilator assessment.
2. I will be able to identify the procedures and scope of practice specific to a
PICU RT at Mayo Clinic.
4. NICU Experience
1. I will independently complete a neonatal ventilator assessment.
2. I will be able to identify the procedures and scope of practice specific to a
NICU RT at Mayo Clinic.
5. Professionalism
1. I will initiate my own experiences by introducing myself and asking to
assist the RT, nurses, and physicians.
2. I will communicate effectively and respectfully with members of the
healthcare team.
3. I will be receptive to feedback from my clinical instructor(s) and work to
implement their suggestions.
