Why Crisp are enabling 2-factor Authentication
The introduction of 2-factor authentication is to ensure stronger security measures for
your Crisp platform access. Adding 2-step verification, using both your password and
phone, will deliver an extra layer of protection to Crisp account.
The default for all user logons, whether local or remote, has always been reliant upon the humble
password, which in the past has been "good enough" security. However, in the modern connected
world that we work and conduct our business in today, a password is now the weakest link.
We see increasing media reports about passwords that are stolen either electronically or by social
engineering techniques. It is easier than you may think for someone to steal your password, and
something that we at Crisp are committed to help our customers prevent.
Two Factor authentication has been around for some time now and is a practical way to add further
security to the user logon sequence. And one that we feel will deliver enhanced security measures for
accessing our service platform.
If you don’t have login details already, please email help@crispthinking.com who will be able to set you
up as a user.
You can select to enable the second authentication factor using one of three following methods:
1. Push notification to your mobile device
2. A code entered via the Google or Azure Authenticator App on your mobile device
3. A code sent to your phone via SMS
This guide will walk you through option 1 – the push notification to your mobile – as this is our
recommended approach. The setup of Option 2 is very similar and setup of the SMS is also
straightforward.
Firstly, you will need to install the Guardian app from the app store - search for ‘Guardian Auth0’. It
should look like this. (Please note that we recommend against installing the Guardian Beta app as it’s a
lot more complicated!):
Open the Guardian App on your mobile device. It should present you with this screen:
Now return to the Crisp application on your PC and click the link on the login screen labelled ‘I have
already downloaded it’
You will be shown a recovery passphrase. You can create your own passphrase via the link below the
white box:
You will be presented with the following screen. Soon after you click continue, you will receive a
notification on your mobile device.
Click ‘Allow’ and the Crisp app will open on your PC.
From this point onwards, any time you login to the Crisp app, you will receive a notification on your
mobile device. Simply clicking ‘Allow’ will get you into the application.
