Installing Front Implement Drive Shaft

Install damper (A). First tighten the axial screws on the damper to 140 N·m (105 lb-ft), and then tighten the radial ones by
the same amount.

When tightening the screws, make sure that the aluminium bushings do not turn with regard to the rubber section. Apply
some grease to the underside of the screw heads. Make absolutely certain that the rubber section does not become
skewed.

New screws are coated with a special adhesive, which takes about 5 hours to harden. Do not operate the tractor until the
adhesive has hardened.

IMPORTANT:

If the old screws are to be re-used, apply LOCTITE® 273 (L63898) to them before installing.

Slide in the drive shaft (B) and tighten the tensioner (C) evenly to 25 N·m (18 lb-ft).

Adjusting Rear Axle Rolling Drag Torque

LX000209-UN: Turning Device

LEGEND:

A - Turning device (dealer-fabricated)

1. Rotate the final drive housing through three complete revolutions. This will settle the bearings.

2. Using turning device (A), rotate final drive housing smoothly through ten complete revolutions, and then use a torque
wrench to determine rolling drag torque of final drive housing.

NOTE:

Always rotate the final drive housing smoothly through ten complete revolutions before measuring
rolling drag torque.

3. Add the following value to the rolling drag torque measurement:

Item Measurement Specification

6100 and 6200 tractors, and SE Rolling Drag Torque 8 to 11.5 N·m (6 to 8.5 lb-ft)
tractors with flanged axle

6300, 6400, 6506 and 6600 tractors Rolling Drag Torque 10 to 13.5 N·m (7.5 to 10 lb-ft)
with flanged axle, plus all tractors
with rack-and-pinion axle

4. Tighten special twelve-point screw until the calculated rolling drag torque is achieved.

IMPORTANT:

The teeth on the toothed disk must face to the rear, i.e. towards the mandrel. Ensure that the O-ring does not
come off during assembly.

Check that the output shaft and stub shaft both engage (shift) correctly. Apply plenty of grease to the stub shaft and the
output shaft hole.

Install a new damper. Insert the radial and axial hex. socket screws, but do not tighten them at this stage. Always use new
screws!

IMPORTANT:

When tightening the screws, make sure that the aluminium bushings do not turn with regard to the rubber
section. Apply some grease to the underside of the screw heads. Make absolutely certain that the rubber
section does not become skewed.

First tighten the axial screws on the damper to 140 N·m (105 lb-ft), and then tighten the radial ones by the same amount.

The screws are coated with a special adhesive, which takes about 5 hours to harden. Do not operate the tractor until the
adhesive has hardened.

IMPORTANT:

Use of adhesives such as LOCTITE® etc. will cause the rubber and aluminium to part company, resulting in
the destruction of the clutch.

NOTE:

Heating to a temperature of approx. 70° C with a hot-air blower may reduce this time to just 20
minutes.
