DAILY REPORTS: WORK IMMERSION

March 4, 2023

Flag Ceremony

We started our first day of work immersion by attending the flag ceremony. We sang the
national anthem and then each section of the office made different announcements. After
the ceremony, we were assigned to the maintenance section.

Reading the Pocketbook on Routine Maintenance

The engineer handed us a handy pocketbook about maintenance work. The book outlined
the crucial role that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) plays in ensuring the safety of
workers. We found out that there are specific things we need to follow to make sure
everything stays safe and works well. We were also taught how to use the Sketch App
and AutoCAD. After that, he let us read some of their sample works about floor planning
and road works.

Reflection:

The first day of my work immersion was an enriching experience. The Flag ceremony
along with their national anthem and office announcements helped in establishing a
connection with the workplace and its various sections. Being assigned to the
maintenance section provided a valuable introduction to the importance of safety in the
workplace. The engineer gave us this handy pocketbook that talked about staying safe
with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). It made me realize how important it is to be
safe at work and there were also specific rules to follow to make sure everything goes
smoothly, and no one gets hurt. Then, we learned to use some cool tools like the Sketch
App and AutoCAD. It was a bit tricky, but the engineer showed us how and I’m looking
forward to learning more from them.

Road Maintenance Guidelines

Today, one of the engineers from our team shared a book with us. The book contained
essential guidelines focusing on the maintenance of national roads. Following our
reading session, we were assigned a task: recording the arrival tickets of drivers.

Creating Floor plan using AutoCAD

We continued learning about AutoCAD, and we got to try it out ourselves and Eng.
Pangandoyon showed us different commands for making a floor plan, and then we did it
on our own. He gave us a guide to help us along the way. Using the commands was fun,
and we made our own floor plan following the steps in the guide.

Reflection:

Reading about road maintenance guidelines was helpful, giving us some important
insights for national roads. The task of recording arrival tickets for drivers seems like a
practical application of what we learned, emphasizing the importance of documentation
in road maintenance. Also, learning AutoCAD with Eng. Pangandoyon was a cool
experience. Trying out commands and making a floor plan on our own was fun. His
guide made it easier to understand the process, and it was great to see how AutoCAD can
bring our ideas to life. The hands-on learning and the supportive environment made the
whole experience enjoyable. AutoCAD can be a useful tool for our future projects. It was
a bit tricky, but I think we will learn new things in the following days.

Continuation of AutoCAD and Organizing the Contract Service

Today, we were tasked with organizing several papers, and we effectively completed the
task. After this, Engineer Pillado kindly offered us an opportunity to explore more in
AutoCAD, recognizing our interest in the subject. As we willingly to learn, we
attentively listened to his instructions, and he gave us a guide to follow. We also
extended a helping hand to others by sharing what we had learned from them. In the
afternoon, our AutoCAD journey continued, and Engineer Pillado provided us with
another guide, this time emphasizing the importance of adding dimensions to our work.
We were excited to take on the challenge and learn more from them.
Reflection:

Trying out AutoCAD and facing new challenges was cool for me. Learning with
Engineer Pillado was fun, and we got to add new information’s to our work in the
afternoon. The whole day was a mix of discovering and trying out new things. We also
shared what we learned with others, making it a friendly learning day. It felt good to
figure things out in AutoCAD and take on the challenges that came up.

Reading Comprehensive Policy Guidelines Policy on the Maintenance of National

Roads Bridges

This day was just an ordinary day for me. It wasn’t like the previous days where we were
given tasks or tested on AutoCAD in the section where we were assigned. We just read
and studied different codes related to road defects. We made it a fun activity so we
wouldn’t get bored because we didn’t have anything to do. We spent the whole day
sitting and waiting for something to do or to be told. Until the end of the day, we didn’t
do anything except read.

Reflection:

I learned about the different types of road defects and how to fix them. We focused on
reading this and gained more knowledge about maintenance. I also learned that it’s
important to have patience because, like today when there was nothing to do, it can make
someone feel bored. I still look forward to the next days because I might learn something
new.

Hanging out with some friends

Today, we didn't do much. We just had some casual conversations with our colleagues
and other teammates. Before noon, some of the engineers left, and we were left alone. In
the afternoon, we watched TV and got to know each other better. We also took pictures
because it was their last day and they wanted to include us in their portfolio.

Reflection:

I learned how to socialize and get to know people, especially when you're the only ones
in the same room.
