Title of Accomplishment DepEd TV Program (National Level Reporter)

Type of Milestone This is a program set during the COVID-19 pandemic by the
Accomplishment Department of Education. This is a part of several modes of making
education still viable during a time of infection and distress.

2. Bried Description One of the modalities of learning given as options to pupils/students
of Accomplishment is video lessons/video streaming. Hence, the creation of the DepED
TV Program. This has been successfully implemented, since this
was assigned a specific channel unto which the pupils/learners can
watch the video lessons via national broadcast.
2.1 Rationale Online education is an urgent solution to the crises that has gripped
the world for the past several years. Although unavoidable, not all
pupils found this change to be simple. This method of learning is,
first and foremost, by nature less exciting than the traditional one. As
a result, several students found it difficult to stay focused, which
further contributed to their losing interest or falling behind.

Thus, the formulation of the Department of Education’s initiative in


promoting various modalities of distance learning. One of the most
effective modalities was the use of video lessons through national
broadcast.

2.8 Responsiveness Everyone must take quick action to stop a learning crisis from
turning into a generational disaster. Not only is education a basic
human right. All other human rights have a direct influence on its
achievement since it is an enabling right. It serves as the
cornerstone of just, egalitarian, and inclusive peaceful society and is
a universal good that is a major driver of development toward all
sustainable development goals. Peaceful, wealthy, and productive
communities cannot be maintained when educational institutions fail.
Hence, the quick response of the Department of Education.
2.9 Innovation The program has set forth a new means of delivering education
amongst learners during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although there
were a number of modalities, one of the most effective modalities
was the use of video lessons. Since it was also implemented through
national broadcast, it cast a wider net and was able to reach more
learners.
2.10 Outcomes/ DepED TV has changed the face of programming on television and
Results/ online by producing and distributing content that is educational,

2.11 Sustainability To ensure the sustainability of DepEd TV and Radio for future use,
Pascua said that the DepEd have to invest in building up the pool of
teacher broadcasters and production personnel to produce 220
episodes per week.

Pascua also noted the need to establishing studios in all the regions
and divisions in the country as well as radio stations/transmitters in
all schools. Establishing a 6-channel digital television infrastructure
that can cover the whole Philippines will also be very crucial.
