INSIGHT ON INSET

To our Dynamic School Division Superintendent, Sir Nelson S. Morales Jr, to our committed Public
Schools District Supervisor Sir Silvino B. Doctolero Jr, to our very own and supportive Principal
Ma’am Aida R. Legaspi, to our active and vision-driven School’s INSET Coordinator Sir Jake M.
Francisco with the support of our brilliant former INSET Coordinator Ma’am Maruja R. Castillo,
and to my fellow teachers a pleasant morning to all of us!

In every undertaking, there must be something that you must learned and reflected. Thank God that
now is the last day of our inset training!
I was overly motivated when the inset started. Motivation is another aspect that
influences learning outcomes. I really appreciate the things I have rediscovered and uncovered
in learning about the different topics that each speaker had shared.

We have learned that Reporting school-based issues and concerns is essential for maintaining a safe,
inclusive, and conducive learning environment through implementing guidelines which include
Clear Reporting Channels, Accessible Reporting Mechanism, Confidentiality, Training and
Awareness, Timely Response, Documentation and Record-Keeping, Follow-Up and Feedback, and
Collaboration with Authorities
By implementing these guidelines, schools can create a safe and supportive environment where issues
and concerns are addressed promptly and effectively, contributing to the overall well-being and
success of students, teachers, and staff.

The Department of Education in the Philippines has also been progressively integrating a rights-based
approach into its education system to ensure that the rights of every learner are respected, protected,
and fulfilled. This approach aligns with international standards such as the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
(UDHR). Here are some key aspects of rights-based education in DepEd: we have the
Incorporation of Human Rights Education (HRE), Curriculum Development, Child-Centered
Approach, Inclusive Education, Safe and Supportive Learning Environment, Partnerships and
Collaboration, Professional Development, and Monitoring and Evaluation. With this, the rights-based
education in DepEd aims to empower learners to become active, informed, and responsible citizens
who respect and uphold human rights principles in their lives and communities.
the DepEd Child Protection Policy also reflects the commitment of the department to uphold the
rights and dignity of children and to ensure their safety and well-being within the education system. It
serves as a framework for creating a protective environment where children can learn, thrive, and
reach their full potential.

As for the The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) it is a landmark
international treaty that sets out the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights of children
worldwide.
the UNCRC provides a comprehensive framework for promoting and protecting the rights of
children, and its legal basis is grounded in both international and national law.

In summary, the adoption of a rights-based education framework in the Philippine Basic Education
system through DepEd Order No. 31, s.2022, signifies a commitment to promoting and protecting the
rights of children in education. By prioritizing holistic development, empowerment, equity, and
inclusion, this policy has the potential to positively impact the lives of millions of Filipino children and
contribute to the country's sustainable development goals. However, its success will depend on
effective implementation, monitoring, and collaboration among all stakeholders involved.

As we end this three-day training, I hope that everything we’ve learned must be put into practice
because the purpose of this INSET training is not just to comply but for our development and for our
school improvement, for the sake of our students learning. I believed that the valuable resources that
all teachers have is each other, without collaboration our growth is limited to our own perspective.

Thank you and goodmorning!
