• Search the historical development of basketball.
- 1. Basketball invented in the late 1800s, it was created by James Naismith a
physical education instructor. The first professional league was formed in
1898. It gained inclusion in the Olympic Games in 1936. Lastly the
National Basketball Association was formed in 1949 in the cultural
importance of United States. Basketball has also been embraced around the
globe.
• Where and when did the basketball originate?
- 2. The only major sport strictly of U.S. origin, basketball was invented by
James Naismith

• Historical development of the Philippines in the field of basketball.
- 3. The history of basketball in the Philippines coincided with the start of
implementation of the public school system. It was first played by female
players but was soon adopted and promoted as a men’s sport. The
Philippine’s first national team was organized in the 1910s. During this time,
it won the Far Eastern Championship Games. Also, the Philippine team was
a winning squad and won the gold nine times. By 1924, the National
Collegiate Athletic Association, or NCAA, was established and soon became
the premier amateur national basketball league.
• Who brought the sports of basketball in the Philippines?
- American teachers
- Basketball first came to the Philippines in the 1910s, when it was a U.S.
colony. American teachers introduced the game to the public school system,
initially just for girls. The appeal of basketball endured through the decades
because of its simplicity, veteran sports anchorman Sev Sarmenta said.
• Who is the first international player in the sport of basketball?
- 4. Hank Biasatti
- Hank Biasatti, who was born in Italy and raised in Canada, was the first
international player in the league in 1946. The number of international
players in the league rose after the formation of the Dream Team when
NBA players were allowed into Olympic play starting in 1992.
• Who is the first Filipino participant in the sport of basketball?
- 5. The first Filipino player to participate in the sport of basketball is widely
considered to be Ambrosio Padilla. He played for the Philippines in the 1936
Summer Olympics held in Berlin, Germany.

Five basic skills in basketball include:

1. Dribbling: Controlling the ball while moving around the court.

2. Shooting: Getting the ball into the basket using proper technique.
3. Passing: Transferring the ball to teammates accurately and efficiently.
4. Rebounding: Grabbing the ball off the backboard or rim after a missed
shot.
5. Defense: Preventing the opposing team from scoring by blocking shots,
stealing the ball, or disrupting plays.
