As far as MEWDS is concerned, OCT-A was useless, as end-capillary low flow circulation is not
identified by OCT-A. To declare that “posterior uveitis is also termed choroiditis” is a blatant
misconception. Therefore, it represented a valuable supplementary tool in the appraisal of posterior
uveitis. The most common HCVA charts employed in clinical research studies include the Snellen
and Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) charts. After excluding case report
articles, 114 articles were retained: 4 in 2016, 17 in 2017, 14 in 2018, 21 in 2019, 14 in 2020, 18 in
2021 and 26 in 2022. Moreover, EDI-OCT, contrary to ICGA, can provide accurate three-
dimensional images of the choroidal layers with precise measurement of the depth and morphology
of the lesions. 1.4. Blue Light Fundus Autofluorescence (BAF) BAF is a valuable tool which is
becoming more and more frequently used in daily practice by ophthalmologists. It was useful for
follow-up in two cases of APMPPE, showing the evolution of choriocapillary drop-out without the
need to repeat ICGA ( Figure 3 ). This represented a considerable advantage over classical
“standardization of uveitis nomenclature (SUN)” that promoted merely qualitative and inadequate
vitreous haze estimation as the sole measurement of posterior uveitis. Motion Perception Testing:
Standard tests of visual function generally interrogate our perception of “form,” and tend to ignore
perception of motion, which has an enormous impact on the day-to-day function. Next Article in

moving objects. In this review we reviewed the scientific literature regarding the application of OCT
in forensic science and legal medicine from 1995 to 2019. Nevertheless, OCT-A is a precious tool in
uveitis research. High-Contrast Visual Acuity: High-Contrast Visual Acuity (HCVA) refers to the
spatial resolving ability of the eye and has long been the mainstay of visual standard testing.
Subsequently, a new trend incorneal thinning was observed in association with the appearance ofone

using OCT to differentiate ON associated with NMO from ON associated with MS, it is important
to be mindful of issues that could affect RNFL values in either group, including recurrent ON in the
same eye and bilateral optic nerve involvement. This approach stands out in a recent article by

The creation of specific 'ad hoc' devices and a better knowledge of this type of technology by

assessment of retinal inflammation is a baseline FA and OCT. At this early stage of development, the

value to ICGA to follow choriocapillaritis entities such as MEWDS or MFC. The articles gave

impairment is generally maximal at onset, and the deficit in HCVA at one month can predict long-
term recovery. This represented a considerable advantage over classical “standardization of uveitis
nomenclature (SUN)” that promoted merely qualitative and inadequate vitreous haze estimation as
the sole measurement of posterior uveitis. Additionally, a single ICGA time frame was used for
comparison to OCT-A. Not surprisingly, RNFL atrophy tends to be extensive in ON eyes of patients
with NMO. As for other modalities, it is hampered by artifacts from media opacities such as
cataracts or vitreous opacities, making the interpretation of images in some patients difficult.
Hyperautofluorescence can indicate damage to the RPE cells unable to eliminate fluorophores that
accumulate unduly. Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors

established advantages of automated perimetry, there are potential pitfalls with this testing modality
in a patient population that is subject to fatigue-related visual dysfunction. The latter two categories
were analyzed in more details in the next two sections. 4.2. Clinical Research Articles The search
yielded 92 research articles on different disease conditions and different localizations of structures.
In the center, there was hypoautofluorescence corresponding to remaining non-perfusion on ICGA

confirming good measurement reliability with the portable OCT. Firstly, OCT-A is indeed a technical
high-grade imaging modality with spectacular research results not necessarily applicable to daily
ophthalmological consultation, but also subject to overinterpretation. Feature papers are submitted
upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive. Initially,
there is generally poor concordance between OCT measures of structural integrity and functional

cortical level, MS and ON patients may experience functional limitations due to interruptions in
normal cortical signaling. These very productive groups, in their repeated articles, tend also to
overemphasize their conclusions, with a trend of demonstrating useful daily use. Many of these
studies report new data which is still to be standardized in order to possibly be applied to everyday
routine practice. After an initial thinning of tissues and an enhancement of epithelial reflectivity,
stromal thickness increased from the 2nd up to the 6th hour. Pachymetric map, morphological and
ultrastructural analysis (epithelium, stroma, and endothelium), were performed for each time-point.
Our research showed the usefulness of this approach for the study of coronary injuries, postmortem

study of blood stains, fingerprints, and hair bulbs for personal identification, as well as the study of
materials found in the crime scene for comparation, or anti-fraud investigation). To go further and
investigate whether routine use of OCT-A was suited for everyday diagnosis and follow-up in uveitis
in place of conventional dye angiography, or whether this represented a mystification, we conducted
an extensive literature review in search of arguments in one direction or the other. Besides the many
drawbacks of OCT-A mentioned by the article itself, the article was characterized by several flaws.

information on OCT in a wide spectrum of fields including oncology, engineering, ophthalmology
and atherosclerosis. The mean RNFL values were significantly lower in recurrent ON eyes (64.
Conclusion: To date, no evidence was found in the literature that OCT-A can replace the classic dye
methods; however, it can complement them. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging
technique providing high-resolution cross-sectional images in several fields of engineering and
medicine. Yet in studies showing significantly more RNFL thinning in NMO ON eyes relative to MS
ON eyes, there has been considerable overlap in the distribution of RNFL values.
This patient was diagnosed and followed as MEWDS thanks to BAF. More recently, another
complementary imaging method, OCT-angiography (OCT-A), further allowed retinal and choroidal
circulation to be imaged without the need for dye injection. This review paper considers the past,
current and future advances in cadaver cardiac imaging which, if successful, will take radiological
imaging one step closer to the widespread introduction of near virtual autopsies. In this way, the
relative contribution of cortical compensation to visual recovery, and the factors that govern the
potential for cortical plasticity, may be determined after acute ON in patients with CNS
demyelinating disorders. Note that from the first issue of 2016, this journal uses article numbers
instead of page numbers. A disadvantage of a montage is the presence of artifacts including, but not
limited to, displacement, shadowing and vessel displacement. The terms mostly used to qualify the
contribution of the articles in this group were “complementary to dye methods”, “adjunct”,
“supplementing” and other similar terms. Fifteen articles were reviews, none of which hinted that
OCT-A could replace dye methods. It is noteworthy that patients who manifest an inter-eye

Hypoautofluorescence indicates loss of RPE due to atrophy or scarring. One of the challenges in
interpreting color vision outcomes is that various modalities are used, and there is less standardization
relative to HCVA, LCLA, and perimetry testing. However, post-acutely, LCLA can be used to detect
persistent visual deficits that may otherwise be missed in patients who have regained “normal” vision
