INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Document printing system services are essential across wide range of

environments, such as libraries, internet cafes, and business centers, catering to the
needs of individuals and organizations alike. In today’s digital age, the demand for cost-
effective in printing services remains steadfast despite the widespread adaption of
document printing system [1].
Traditional payment methods for document printing services include manual
transaction processing time causing delays and inconsistencies due to handling of cash.
Completion of paper works for students, faculty and staffs is impacted, as it is crucial to
ensure seamless access to printing services and is reliable in doing document printing
service [2,3].
The advent Internet of Things, enables the seamless integration of the physical
world with the digital realm, allowing for different levels of connectivity. This connectivity
extends to smart vending solutions, which are vending machines equipped with IoT
capabilities and enables seamless data transfer and real-time monitoring of vending
machine operations, including inventory levels, perform tasks sales performance and
analyze customer behavior patterns in real-time from anywhere with an internet
connection [4]. By integrating smart vending solutions into the IoT ecosystem, document
printing services can achieve time-saving, user satisfaction, and accessibility of printing
services [5].
We propose a PesoPrint System based on pay-per-print- solution for document
printing services an innovative printing solution leveraging Internet of Things (IoT)
technology within WMSU-ESU Pagadian Campus. The proposed system is composed of
a touch-screen UI that the users will interact with, upon approaching the system the user
will plug in their own flash drives with their files on it, the system then will filter out files
and will only show files that are printables like (docx, xlsx, pdf, images, etc.). The users
will select their files and there will be a preview for reviewing their pages to be printed,
the users will select those pages and the system will automatically identify the paper size
and will print to the printer that accommodates the paper size (There will only be 3
printers within this system for LONG, A4, SHORT).

The system will also price the pages and calculate the total cost of the printing,
the user will pay through the integrated coin and bill acceptor and once the right amount
is been received the printing button can now be pressed and will start printing. If the
allocated money was more that the price of the printing then the system will do change
that is limited to 1 and 5 pesos. Within the proposed system, it will also be integrated
with a mobile app where users are allowed to reserve their files for printing. The users
upload their files within the mobile app and the app will generate a reservation code
wherein the user will input upon approaching to the system. Notifications will be sent if
the reserved files are printed, printing, or cancelled.
On the other hand, within the mobile app we have the administrators who have
access to features such as viewing sales reports, receiving notifications for errors like
paper jams and shortage ink levels. As the printing queues is almost ready, the user
receives a SMS to remind that the reservation is almost done. This allows the users to
confirm and cancel the reservation if they are unable to obtain their documents with the
desire paper size after paying through a coin acceptor and bill acceptor. On the other
hand, administrators have access to features such as managing inventory, generating
sales reports, receiving notifications about paper jams and ink levels, and sending
reminders to admin every three days to ensure a smooth printing process.
Furthermore, the performance of the PesoPrint system within the context of the
WMSU-ESU Pagadian Campus, Computer Science Department will improve
accessibility, real-time printing process and satisfaction with the PisoPrint system among
students, faculty, and staff members of the department to inform future enhancements
and widespread adoption of IoT-based printing solutions.

Statement of the Problem

Document printing services play a crucial role in facilitating academic activities

within education institutions such as Western Mindanao State University in Pagadian.
Having printing of their documents in a complex transaction, where they pass their files
to the person that may or may not own the printing business, the in accurate picking of
pages to be printed, and the vulnerability of the customers flash drives getting viruses or
malwares from unsafely plugging it to an unknown computer that handles printing. Also,
the tradition payment methods for the print service often includes complex transaction,
sometimes the change that will be given to the user isn't enough or even the price of the
service is not just that consistent.

Implementing a PesoPrint System based on Pay-Per-Print Solution for Document

Printing Services leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) can address these challenges. By
providing user-friendly software that manages the files and printing service needed by
the user, a payment gateway that accepts coins and bills and will do change if the
accommodated cost is more than what is paid, automating the traditional way of a
printing service with a more sustainable and reliable approach through the PesoPrint
System.

Scope and Limitations

This section sets the parameters of the study. The scope should indicate what
the system could do, while the limitation should state otherwise. The coverage and
boundaries of the system implementation should be indicated here.

After the system has been developed, the proponent may also indicate the
inherent problems encountered in the development of the system.

Theoretical Framework (if only applicable)

This section discusses the theories and models other researchers have
already developed. The goal of a theoretical framework is to present and explain
this information.

There may be many different theories about your topic, so the theoretical
framework also involves evaluating, comparing, and selecting the most relevant
ones.

REVIEW OF RELATED ATURE

Related Studies

Discuss at least 10, local and foreign literature and studies, combined. Do not
forget to cite the references where these are taken. These should be within a five-year
validity from the date of the project proposal.

Synthesis

This is the summary of the related literature showing the gap and the need to
develop/improve a system.

Conceptual Framework

This is an early phase of the design process, in which the broad outlines of the
function and form of something are articulated. It includes the design of interactions,
experiences, processes, and strategies. It involves an understanding of people's needs -
and how to meet them with products, services, & processes. Common artifacts of
conceptual design are concept sketches and models.

METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The research design refers to the overall strategy that you choose to integrate
the different components of the study coherently and logically, thereby, ensuring you will
effectively address the research problem; it constitutes the blueprint for the collection,
measurement, and analysis of data. Note that your research problem determines the
type of design you can use, not the other way around.

The different types of research design could be obtained from the link specified
here: (https://library.sacredheart.edu/c.php?g=29803&p=185902)

Respondents

Discuss the profile of the people whom you have invited for a survey to validate
the need for the system development or the people who evaluated the software. A copy
of the questionnaire must be included in the Appendices.
Data Gathering Instruments, Techniques, and Procedures

This section describes the instruments (interviews, questionnaires, surveys,

observation, experiments, or reports), techniques (face-to-face, online, mail, and/or
phone), and procedures for data gathering.

This section also documents for secondary data collection is referred to as the
gathering of second-hand data collected by an individual who is not the original user. It is
the process of collecting data that is already existing.
Statistical Tools (if only applicable)

This section includes proposed statistical tools used in planning, designing,

collecting data, analyzing, drawing relevant interpretations, and reporting research
findings throughout a research project. Examples include the F-test, the t-test, and
regression analysis, to name a few.

Analytical Tools

Use DFD, ERD, and any system flowchart/diagram for this section. The
discussion of these diagrams will be written in this section.
Technical Tools

Includes discussion of different tools or components (hardware and/or software)

that will be used for the development and completion of the system/project.
Software Process Model

Specify the software development methodology used by the proponent. For

example, Scrum Methodology. Waterfall methodology is discouraged. Discuss first the
characteristics of the methodology used, and then discuss in detail the activities done by
the proponent for each of the stages of the methodology. The illustration should be
shown in this section.
System Architecture

Illustrate and discuss the conceptual model that defines the structure, behavior,
and more views of a system. An architecture description is a formal description and
representation of a system, organized in a way that supports reasoning about the
structures and behaviors of the system. The illustration should be shown in this section.
