1. based on essay, how did jose rizal describe
filipino women?
Jose Rizal was greatly impressed by the fighting spirit that the
young women of Malolos had shown. In his letter, he expresses
great joy and satisfaction over the battle they had fought. In this
portion of Rizal's letter, it is obvious that his ultimate desire was for
women to be offered the same opportunities as those received by
men in terms of education. During those days young giris were not
sent to school because of the universal notion that they would soon
only be taken as wives and stay at home with the children. Rizal,
however, emphasizes on freedom of thought and the right to
education, which must be granted to both boys and girls alike,
2. do you think the description in the first
paragraph is positive or negative why?
The description in first paragraph about women is
"negative" because flowers without perfurme and
fruits without sap can be interpreted that women
do not have freedom to do what they want in their
life, they don't have enough knowledge to know
their right as individual,
3. what do you think the line “ No longer does the
filipina stand with her head bowed nor does she spend
her time on her knees, because she is quicked by hope
in the future” means?
In my opinion, i think why Filipinas because they
are more looking forward to the future rather than
praying to God or being religious they are more
focusing on themselves
4. what is Rizal’s hope for the filipino women?
Rizal's hoped that the Filipino women to
have the oppprtunity to enjoy the same
privileges with men. Aside from that, he
also hoped that women must be heedful
about their rights and stop being so
compliant towards many injustices served
to them.
5. what is the overall message of the excerpt?
Rizal urged women to rise up and recognize
their role in society through his message that
they must have strong moral convictions that
will empower them to stand up for their rights
and refuse to submit to oppressors. instigated
the women of Malolos to rise and take an active
role in society.
