denominators
⚫ They are going to practice how change
mixed into improper and vice-versa
⚫ They will practice reading and identifying
the required mathematical operations from

for a rectangle with sides in fractions, remind
students how to calculate the area of rectangles

examples that only have 2 operations Ex:

Next we will make it more complicated and solve

examples with more than 2 operations.
EX:

Differentiation
⚫ As for differentiation we will learn how
work with negative fractions and remember
the rule of multiplying

● Trimester quiz
3 x 3x 3 = 33 ● Trimester exam
3 x 3x 3 x 3 x 3 = 35 ● Chapter/Unit test
32 x 33 = 32+3 = 35
Conclusion: as long as the base is the same, you
can multiply them by adding their powers.
School Year 2022-2023

𝒂𝒎 × 𝒂𝒏 = 𝒂𝒎+𝒏

Then we will move to the dividing with powers.

4×4×4×4×4
EX: 45 ÷ 43 = =4×4=
4×4×4
42

7×7×7×7×7×7
76 ÷ 73 =
7×7×7
= 7 × 7 × 7 = 73
Conclusion: as long as the base is the same,
you can divide they by subtracting their
powers.

𝒂𝒎 ÷ 𝒂𝒏 = 𝒂𝒎−𝒏

We will move to zero and negative powers.

Anything power 0 is equal 1:

40 = 1
980 = 1
𝒂𝟎 = 𝟏
Indices also can be negative:
Apply the rule for division using the example:
1
Differentiation 73 ÷ 75 = 73−5 = 7−2 =
72
School Year 2022-2023

Student will remember how to add or

subtract negative numbers

7×7×7
73 ÷ 75 =
7×7×7×7×7
1
= = 7−2
7×7
Last We will learn how to distribute powers
2
23 = 26

Learners ⚫ Students will know how to simplify same

activity variables with different powers for
multiplying and dividing
⚫ 𝒂𝒎 × 𝒂𝒏 = 𝒂𝒎+𝒏
⚫ 𝒂𝒎 ÷ 𝒂𝒏 = 𝒂𝒎−𝒏
⚫ 𝒂𝟎 = 𝟏
