The boy scouts of America group are known to be the largest organization in the scouting

field. It is also counted among the most outstanding youth corporation in the United States of

America. It has approximately 2.4 million participants and around 1 million volunteers who are

adults. Boy scouts of America were formed in 1910, and since that time, youths have been

participating in BSA programs. This group was created to teach character to the youth of

America (Fieldston, 2020).

The current role of the BSA in youth work is to offer youth activities that help them to do

several important things. These essential things include providing services to other people,

building self-confidence, reinforcing ethical qualities, and trying new helpful items. While other

youth groups provide necessary skills like promoting teamwork, the boy scouts of America go

deeper by encouraging youths to offer the best services to the community.

The boy scouts of America contribute to the development of the community by offering

several special services. These services include cleaning up the trash by steams, planting trees

and flowers, recycling glass or plastic objects, and making bird feeders (Simpkins, 2020). By

doing their services together, the boy scouts help keep their promise of helping other people.

In the last decade, the boy scout has had so many advantages to the youth of today’s

culture. These advantages include teaching ethics, values, and necessary outdoor activities like

survival skills (Vandell, 2020). The youth has also had a chance to interact with each other and

learn from each other. The youth have been taught how to take care of their bodies and value

themselves. They have been taught how to practice safe courtship given that there have been so

many cases of youth catching sexually transmitted diseases and getting into early marriages. The

youth have also been taught how to talk when they are going through hard times, which helps

reduce the number of suicide cases. As a human service professional, I would integrate this

organization into my work by promoting its work and encouraging more youths to join.
