The bar charts illustrate American marriage and divorce rates from 1970 to 2000,as well as the marital

status of adult Americans in two of the year.

Overall,it is obvious that the number of marriages was higher than the number of divorces at all times of
the period. In addition, the percentage of married adults remained highest in both of two years 1970 and
2000.

Regarding the rate of marriage and divorce, the number of people who tied the knot started at 2.5
million in 1970 and remained at the same in the next decade.Meanwhile the figure for single people
initiated at one million in the first year of the period and then reached the highest of its whole time,at
around 1.4 million in 1980.From that time on,there was a gradual decrease in the percentage of both
two statuses, the proportion for people who married went down to 2 million while the figure for
divorced adults ended at only 1 million in the year 2000.
In terms of marital status, the proportion of married ones was 70% in 1970,10% higher than that in
2000.By contrast, the figure for never-married adults in 2000 was higher than that in 1970, at around
20% and 15% respectively.Meanwhile, the two others accounted for only less than 10% in both two
years.

In some countries, the widespread use of the internet has given people more freedom to
work or study at home instead of traveling to work or college. Do the advantages outweigh
the disadvantages.

It is true that the internet usage is now widening for intentions of both working or studying from home.
While there are several obvious disadvantages of this trend,I believe that its advantages outweigh those
drawbacks.

On the one hand, the popularity of the internet may cause some drawbacks for working and studying at
home.Firstly, people keep their eyes glued to screens for hours, they may experience some eye problems
and even limit their field of vision permanently.Furthermore, spending lots of time on technology
devices leads to the risk of being more prone to obesity.Secondly, employees and students cannot
master their soft skills. In fact, employees at office have a big chance to work with many colleagues from
different situations, which allows them to build a strong relationship with their partners and gain more
experience.

On the other hand, ,I believe that the benefits are more significant than the disadvantages. One reason is
that the internet is a revolutionized communication which helps the staff and teenagers save their
time.If employees use the internet network, they can only stay at home then fulfill their tasks and send
them to boss without any worries about wasting time for commuting. As a result, they will have spare
time to take part in more outdoor activities.Another important factor is that the internet is also an
unlimited source of information in various fields such as news, culture, science and nature that
encourages people to broaden their knowledge so they are given countless opportunities to improve
their hard skills.

In conclusion, while directly going to work or college is associated with a number of potential drawbacks,
I would argue that the advantages of the widespread use of the internet are more noticeable than the
disadvantages.
