CRITICAL THINKING ASSIGNMENT

1. Critical Thinking is sometimes describes as “the act of criticism”. Examine


this statement and determine whether it is true or false, bringing out the
goals of critical thinking.

2. Involving in uncritical thinking is common in our society because of certain


factors that affect the ability of people to think clearly. Discuss these factors
and give practical examples for each.

3. An argument is a group of statements offered to persuade people about a


particular point. Critically analyse this definition with reference to a
statement, examples of statements, parts of an argument and examples of an
argument.

4. Discuss why reports, explanations, unsupported assertions, descriptions and


illustrations are not considered to be arguments. Give examples of each of
the aforementioned.

5. The thoughts of critical thinkers are governed by certain intellectual


standards. Discuss these standards and give practical examples of each.

6. How is deductive reasoning different from inductive reasoning? Discuss.

7. Discuss the various ways in which deductive argument are presented.
