Instructions

Check the antenna cabling. Check also that the channels used in the TBS have at least 150kHz channel
spacing. In the case of the ATC800 variant 7996, check that the channels have a minimum of 300 kHz
channel spacing.

If the cavity has set itself to the parked state, some combiner types (for example Combilent) may not try to
retune anymore; instead, they raise the alarm again. In such a case, configure some other frequency (with
150kHz/300kHz channel spacing as minimum, depending on the ATC variant) for the TTRX connected to the
cavity in question and switch the TX on to enable the retuning to the cavity. After that, restore the original
frequency.

If cavity’s transmission status (supplementary information field 3) indicates that the transmission was not on in
the cavity, it is possible that there is external interference on the same frequency which triggered on the alarm.

If the antenna cabling was in order, no configuration faults or external interference can be found, replace the
faulty Auto-Tuned Combiner.

Cancelling

The alarm is cancelled when the user sets the TTRX connected to the faulty combiner (cavity) to the WO-EX
state and transmitting, and the fault condition has been cleared in the combiner. Note that depending on the
combiner type and the nature of the fault, the cavity may require that another frequency is configured to it,
before the retuning is enabled again and the alarm is cancelled from the system. Note also that in some cases
the combiner keeps the fault status on a minimum of five minutes, during which the recovery will not work.

If the alarm is raised again in approximately one minute after it was cancelled from the system, set the TTRX
connected to the faulty combiner (cavity) to the WO-EX state and transmitting again.

6878 TBS CANNOT CONNECT TO SERVER

Meaning

The TBS does not receive a response from the DHCP, DNS or configuration server.

Supplementary information fields

1. 00 - DHCP server

01 - DNS server

02 - Configuration server

2. IP address of the server in question, 0.0.0.0 used if not known.

3. Reason why server was not responding:

00 - unreachable (DHCP)

01 - misconfigured (DHCP)

02 - authentication failure (configuration)

03 - file not found (configuration)

FF - no reason available (DNS)

Instructions

DHCP server problem:

The TBS has detected that it cannot get its IP configuration from the DHCP server. The DHCP server can be
unreachable, meaning that the server is down or the IP connectivity between the TBS and the DHCP server is
broken. Alternatively, the DHCP server is misconfigured and therefore cannot give its IP settings to the TBS.

If the DHCP server is unreachable, the network operator should be contacted in order to find a solution to
the problem. Also the DHCP server availability should be checked.

If the DHCP server is misconfigured, the DHCP server configuration should be checked.

DNS server problem:

The TBS has detected that it cannot get a response from the DNS server. Either the DNS server is
unreachable, meaning that the server is down, or the IP connectivity between the TBS and tge DNS server
is broken.

Contact the network operator to find a solution to the problem. Check also the DNS server's availability
and configuration.

Configuration server problem:

The TBS has detected that it cannot get its configuration from the Configuration server. There are three
alternative reasons for this alarm to be raised:

1. The configuration server is unreachable, meaning that the OMU is down, the IP connectivity between
the TBS and OMU is broken or that a wrong Configuration server address is configured to the TBS.

2. Authentication failure, meaning that the Configuration server username or password do not mach in
TBS and OMU.

DN98917741-18-4en TETRA System Release 8.0

94/108 This document and its contents are the property of Airbus DS SLC and must not be copied or circulated without authorisation
3. Configuration file not found on server, meaning that the server does not contain the configuration file
the TBS is looking for.

If the Configuration server is unreachable, the network operator should be contacted in order to find a
solution to the problem. Also the OMU availability and the Configuration server address configured in the
TBS should be checked.

In case of the authentication failure, check that the TBS username and password match in the OMU and TBS.

In case of the configuration file not found on server failure, it is possible that the TBS is not correctly
configured to the DXT.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The alarm will be cancelled automatically when the fault condition has been cleared
and the server responses.

Supplementary information fields

1.
1..8 Number of the combiner channel, where the changing of frequency failed.
The numbering is listed in the following table (where ATC is the Auto Tuned Combiner unit
CAVITY refers to either one of the two cavities of the ATC):
CAVITY NUMBER | ATC CAVITY
-----------------------------
1 | 1 1
2 | 1 2
3 | 2 1
4 | 2 2
5 | 3 1
6 | 3 2
7 | 4 1
8 | 4 2

2. Reason of the fault:

00 - tuning with normal frequency fails
01 - tuning with signalling frequency fails in phase 1
02 - tuning with signalling frequency fails in phase 2
03 - tuning with signalling frequency fails in phase 3
FF - no reason available

Instructions

Check that the cavity combiners are correctly defined in the TBC's HW configuration and that the signalling
frequencies are correctly set in the Auto Tuned Combiners and in the TBC. If the configurations are correct,
park the failed cavity using the combiner's MMI and try changing the frequency again. If it still fails, replace
the faulty Auto Tuned Combiner unit.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The system cancels the alarm automatically, when the fault condition has been
cleared or the TTRX is restarted.

6880 AUTO TUNED COMBINER TUNING ONGOING

Meaning

The Auto Tuned Combiner (ATC) is tuning or waiting the RF carrier to complete the tuning. This alarm
is also raised if the combiner has been initiated to the so-called signalling procedure, but has not yet
completed it and also when the combiner is executing the so-called automatic combiner parking. During
the automatic combiner parking, also the alarm 6831 AUTO TUNED COMBINER UNIT FAILURE is on for
the cavity in question.

Supplementary information fields

1.
1..8 Number of the combiner channel, where the tuning is ongoing.
The numbering is listed in the following table (where ATC is the Auto Tuned Combiner unit and
CAVITY refers to either one of the two cavities of the ATC):
CAVITY NUMBER | ATC CAVITY
-----------------------------
1 | 1 1
2 | 1 2
3 | 2 1
4 | 2 2
5 | 3 1
6 | 3 2
7 | 4 1
8 | 4 2

2. Combiner type
00 - ATC without signalling tuning
01 - ATC using signalling tuning

Instructions

The alarm does not require any actions, unless it is not cancelled automatically in approximately 1 min or if it
occurs very frequently in a certain cavity.

NOTE: Most of the combiner types detect only 12.5 kHz and higher frequency changes. To be able to monitor
small frequency changes (<20 kHz), set the transmitter first to a temporary frequency, which has more than
20 kHz difference to the old and new frequencies. This restriction does not apply to the signalling-based
tuning, where the combiner always makes a new tuning even if the frequency is not changed.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The system cancels the alarm automatically, when the fault condition has been
cleared or the TTRX is restarted.

Note that this can be either the working or spare TBC.
1 TBC subrack slot 1
Fault/event has occurred in the TBC unit that is located in the TBC subrack slot 1.
Note that this can be either the working or spare TBC.

Instructions

If the TBC-U or TBCi card is used in the base station, check the GPS antenna cable and connections. Check
the PPS pulse. Check the GPS time information packets. Check the GPS receiver.

If the TBC-S card is used in the TBS2 base station, check whether the TSD plug-in unit is working. Check the
PPS pulse stability from the TSD unit.

Note

If the alarm 6882 FRAME SYNCHRONIZATION SEARCH is also active, the TBS is searching the frame
synchronization and it will recover by itself when the frame synchronization requirements have been met.

6884 TBS CONFIGURATION CONFLICT

Meaning

The TBS has detected a conflict in its configuration.

Supplementary information fields

1. 1 - Conflict in the encryption configuration

2. 0..FFFE - Additional reason-specific information about the fault

FFFF - No additional information

Instructions

The required actions depend on the exact reason of the conflict.

1. The SYSINFO PDU content indicates support for the air interface encryption and/or for security class 3,
but the TBS encryption modules are not configured for the encryption.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The alarm will be cancelled automatically when the reason for the configuration
mismatch is corrected. The TBS may require a reset to recover from the alarm.

If you need to reset the TBS, verify first that the air interface encryption related system parameters match with

6885 RX ANTENNA FAULT

Meaning

The TBS has detected a fault in the RX antenna configuration data or in the RX antenna functionality,
hardware or cabling.

Supplementary information fields

1. 1..8 - Index of the alarming TTRX in the TBS

2. 1 - Conflict in the RX antenna configuration data

2 - RX antenna supervision is not responding
Too big unbalance detected between the antenna branches of the sector

3. A, B or C - The alarming antenna sector

- - The alarm does not concern any specific antenna sector

4. - 9. Each RX branch (6) has its own value.

0..254d The average RSSI of the RX branch in -dBm's
255d N/A. For example, the RX branch configured to be supervised is not configured in the
TTRX or there are no RSSI measurement results available yet.

Instructions

The required actions depend on the exact reason of the conflict.

1. The TTRX has fewer RX branches (1..6) configured than there are RX branches defined in the
antenna configuration data. The RX antenna supervision is not executed in the TTRX until there are
equal amount of (or fewer) RX branches defined in the antenna configuration data than there are
RX branches configured to the TTRX.

2. The RX antenna supervision is not working in the TTRX. No supervision data is available. Check
whether there are other alarms indicated by the TTRX which could cause this problem.

3. The TTRX has detected an unbalance between the RX branch(es) of one sector that exceeds the
configured threshold. Check the status of the antennas and/or their cabling.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The alarm will be cancelled automatically when the reason for the configuration
mismatch is corrected or the faulty (RX) antenna and/or cabling has been replaced.

6899 TBS EXTERNAL ALARM

Meaning

The TBS has detected a change of state in a pin of the external-alarm input.

Supplementary information fields

1. number of the pin in the J8 connector (37-pin D-connector) of the ALARM IF plate on the roof of the TBS.

Possible values: 1...12

Instructions

Polarity of the alarm has to be defined by the TBS MMI.

Meaning of the alarm has to be known by the operator of the network, because no alarm based literal
text is printed out on the fault printer of the DXT.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The system cancels the alarm automatically when the fault condition has been
cleared or the TTRX is restarted.

6900 DSP SOFTWARE LOADING FAILURE IN TDSC UNIT

Meaning

The upload of DSP software has failed in the TDSC preprocessor unit. The DSP processors are not running.
Speech cannot be encoded nor decoded in the TDSC preprocessor unit.

Supplementary information fields

1. the DSP processor in question

1 SDDSP

2 MDSP1

3 MDSP2

2. 1 software loading failed at startup

Other parameters to be defined later, for instance cases when program execution fails in a later phase.

Instructions

If the alarm is not cancelled by a program block, the DSP software will not run. The DSP software or memory
circuit is corrupted and the unit must be changed.

Cancelling

The alarm is cancelled by a program block or it can be cancelled by restarting the unit.

6901 EMT V2 PROTOCOL FAILURE

Meaning

EMTv2 (external message transfer version 2) protocol connection to an external system is faulty because of a
missing heartbeat signal. This may be caused because of a failure in the external system or in the network
connection. The IP address of the external system is shown in the supplementary information of the alarm.

The impact of the fault depends on the type of external system. Typically an external system is some kind
of network element management application and the failure does not affect the traffic capacity of the
network element.

Supplementary information fields

1. IP address of the external system using the EMTv2 connection.

2. ID of the client using the EMTv2 connection in the external system.

Instructions

Check the operation and the connection of the external system identified by the IP-address (supplementary
information).

With QRS MML command the state of the IP connection in the network element side can be checked (e.g.
SIPU,0,0::ALL:SYM=YES;). The state of the IP connection should be ESTABLISHED.

With QRX MML command a ping command can be given to external system (e.g.
QRX:SIPU,0,0:::IP="172.21.118.130";). If ping also works, the fault is most probably in the application running
in the external system. Check the operation of the external system identified by the IP-address.

If the reason for the alarm cannot be solved, computer unit log should be taken with ZGD service terminal
command and alarm history with AHP MML command.

Fill in a Problem Report and send it to your local EADS Customer Service Center. Include previously
mentioned log files on the problem report.

Cancelling

Do not cancel the alarm. The system cancels the alarm automatically when the fault has been corrected.

6904 DWS-TDSC DATA LINK CONNECTION LOST

Meaning

The connection between the DWS and the TDSC is lost too many times within a certain time limit.

Supplementary information fields

1. 1 TLC_LINK1

2 TLC_LINK2

Instructions

Check the serial cable between the TDSC and the DWS. Check also the connection parameters in the
TDSC and the DWS.

Cancelling

The alarm is cancelled by a program block when the data link connection is working.

6906 DSP COMMUNICATION FAILURE IN TDSC UNIT

Meaning

The DSP prosessor doesn't reply the congiguration request. The obvious fault is that in some reason
communication between DSP and CPU is not working. Probably this problem is coused by the hardware
failure. If this alarm is raised for any DSP then TDSC will not do the resource changes that DXT would request.

Supplementary information fields

1. the DSP processor in question

1 SDDSP

2 MDSP1

3 MDSP2

Instructions

If the alarm is raised by the Resource Management of TDSC for any DSP then the state of TDSC is changed
to SE-OU in DXT. This means that the TDSC card is not working and should be replaced.

Cancelling

If the alarm is canceled by the Resource Management for all DSPs for which alarm was raised then the state
of TDSC should be changed back to WO-EX. When the alarm is canceled the TDSC becomes operational
immediately. (It should be noted that the probability of the faulty TDSC to become operational is small.)
