Background and Symptoms of
COVID-19
Coronaviruses are a large family of
viruses causing respiratory illness
ranging from the common cold to more
serious infections. It is zoonotic in
nature may cause pneumonia, severe
acute respiratory disease and kidney
failure.
Symptoms of Coronavirus Infection:
- Fever
- Cough
- Respiratory Symptoms Shortness of
Breath
- Difficulty of Breathing
Fever
Fever is a medical term that refers to
an elevated body temperature, typically
as a response to an underlying illness or
infection.
- Cough
A cough is a reflex action that helps clear
the airways of the throat and lungs by
expelling air forcefully. It is a natural
defense mechanism of the body to
remove irritants, mucus, or foreign
particles from the respiratory system.
-Respiratory symptoms
Respiratory symptoms refer to signs or
sensations that involve the respiratory
system, which includes the organs and
structures involved in breathing.
- Shortness of Breath

Shortness of breath, also known as


dyspnea, is a sensation of breathlessness
or difficulty breathing.
- Difficulty of Breathing
It is a symptom that can be
associated with various medical
conditions affecting the
respiratory and cardiovascular
systems, among others.

Wellness Tips
A. Frequently wash your hands with soap and water
for a minimum of 20 seconds per wash. Only if water
and soap are not available should you use alcohol with
60-70% solution.
B. Wash your hands after blowing your nose, using
toilet, handling animals/animal waste or when hands
are visibly dirty

C. Drink at least 12 to 15 glasses of water per day.
Ideally one glass every hour from 6 am to 6 pm.
D. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables and spices daily
preferably every meal.
E. Move and walk at least 30 minutes a day. F. Sleep
for 7 to 8 hours in total darkness
