MY NANAY’S HOME

If you were to ask me what’s my favourite place to visit, I may ponder for just a long time before
speaking. It might be the place I always visit, my nanay's house. A home far away from the glare of city
lights, pollution, and crowds. You may ask "Why?”. But the moment I remember everything in that
place, I could smile, saying “It’s my favorite place”.

I grew up as a teen surrounded by a lot of people and friends. I always hang out with my friends
at school, did activities together, and had a lot of fun. I tried to follow what they do, being influenced to
their actions, habits and character. They’ve been my comfort since that time. But I never thought in my
life that I have become that kind of person. Until, I realized I’ve becoming as worse as I could be. I am
not changing and growing anymore. It feels like life is a waste of time, trying to please others and get
satisfied with it. It was indeed a bad life.

Until such time, never been in my life that I would experience a life-changing encounter. COVID-
19 hits me and anything in the world. There, God met me. So, maybe you’re thinking what’s the connect
of my favourite place in the story?

When I got to know God, I met people in my life that led me more to Him. That kind of people is
an indication that I am in the right place to where I am supposed to be. I called them my second home. I
have a friend who’s close to me, I call her nanay. But I’m not just the only one who’s calling her that way
but most of my close friends, call her the same. Throughout the COVID-19, she has been my
accountability partner where I can share and talk to. Until, we built a fellowship with others too. The
fellowship we started doesn’t just stop at us, but we began to have fellowship with others as well and
get to know them.

One day, my nanay invited us to go there. It was a great timing for me because I was also
planning to visit too. I just brought the essentials and my little clothes to stay there. We go together with
my so-called siblings; actually, I was the youngest by age. We visited her house most of the time to
gather together.

In that day, the house was filled with excitement. The guitar playing brightens the mood, the
sound of chopped ingredients hypes up the unity of each other while cooking, the funny chuckles in the
middle of chats, the sound of utensils being arranged at the table tickling and everything else was really
a memorable moments in my life. As is customary, we always eat supper happily. Day by day, we
celebrate each other.
Our nanay constantly showed us with affection, compassion, and tenderness. There, it somehow
changed the way I’m living, act and influence other people. I never imagined I get to know a community
that helped my grow on my personal journey. It was not just a life-changing place or community but a
life-changing fellowship.

That place where I called "Home" was the place I always want to returned to. That place was a
great reminder for me that indeed, God is a faithful God who leads us to the right people at right place
and in the right time.
