Course Title: French Level 2

Course Date: Winter Session

I. Course Description:

The goals of this course includes reading, grammar, writing, oral comprehension and oral
communication. The program covers beginner and intermediate levels of French grammar and
usage. Following a summary of rules for correct pronunciation and spelling, we will review verb
tenses, The Present Tense of Regular Verbs, The Present Tense of Irregular Verbs, The Imperfect,
and The Future. Rules governing nouns, prepositions, interrogatives, and negative forms are also
examined numbers, time and dates.

The students will be tested on all of these aspects of language learning through written
homework, classroom participation, and through periodic quizzes and exam.

II. Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

 Apply a basic knowledge of grammar appropriate to the level.


 Apply strategies for understanding specific information.
 Understand short texts in the target language, dealing with everyday material.
 Interact in simple way, and ask and answer questions on familiar topics.

III. Instructional Methods:

This course is taught using a variety of instructional including lecture, class discussions, small
group work and writing small paragraphs.

V. Grading standard:

This course will be based on weighted categories. The categories are divided as follows:

1. Homework (20%).
2. Reading (20%).
3. Quiz (20%).
4. Participation (20%).
5. Final exam (20%).
