1. I was born in Wilson Creek.

I have 1) just returned to my hometown after an

absence of 10 years. So many things have changed around here. A new shopping
mall 2) has been built just across from my old school. There is a baseball stadium
which was 3) too small. They have now added a new stand where probably a
thousand people could sit. The biggest changes have taken place in the downtown
area. They have pedestrianised the centre and you can't drive there anymore. A
fountain has been built and 4) some wooden seats have also been added. I don’t
mind 5) walking told and it looks very nice. 6) however, there are lots of people
who are not happy with these changes. A man 7) told me he would like to meet his
old classmates in the school canteen but the bus leaves him six blocks from the
school. There’s now a public library too. There used 8) be a great park there but
they have cut down all the trees! The library now has a large green area in front of it
but it's not as beautiful 9) as when the park was there. Another improvement is the
number of new restaurants that have opened in Wilson Creek. A Chinese and an
Italian restaurant have opened in the town centre and a Mexican restaurant has
opened near my home. If my friends are free this evening, we 10) will have dinner
there.

2. I'm Steve and I 1) have been (be) a motor mechanic for twenty years. One cold
winter day five years ago I received a call to assist a motorist – his car 2) had
broken (break) down and was stuck in snow. As I 3) was driving (drive) to the
place where the motorist was stranded, I noticed that the snow was getting
heavier. When I 4) called (call), I was sure I knew where the motorist was. But
when I got there, I 5) couldn't (can) see a car anywhere. I tried to call my office,
but my mobile's battery was dead. I got out of the car and started looking for
some sign of the motorist. I looked down and saw some footprints in the snow. I
began following them...

Rose is talking to her friend Peggy.
Rose: Tell me about your grandparents’ party. How long have they been
married?
Peggy: 1) They have been married for fifty years (FIFTY)
Rose: Fifty years? So it was a big party, 2) wasn't it? (IT)
Peggy: Yeah...
Rose: What did you eat?
Peggy: Eat? 3) "I didn't eat anything." (ANYTHING)
Rose: Didn’t you? Why?
Peggy: Because there 4) wasn't enough for everyone. (ENOUGH)
Rose: Oh, dear! 5) _ How many people were there, do you think?" ? (HOW)
Peggy: There were about one hundred people, I think.
4. Hey Lucy,

It's been way too long since we last saw each other! So much has changed in
the past three years. I got married and now I have a beautiful son. I also
started a new job as a enginering manager at company. As for future plans, we
are thinking about moving to a bigger house and possibly starting our own
business. I can't wait to catch up and hear about what's been going on with
you!

Kiss, Leissy.

I love the Land Rover Defender, I haver had many of them since I got my driving
licence when I was 18. Last year, when I told my children I sold my last one they cried
for hours. And they have not forgiven me yet. It´s a pity that now the production has
stopped because Jaguar Land Rover can´t apply the strict measures for car emissions
by 2020. The company has already designed a replacement model, but for now, all
700 employees, who worked on the vehicle were invited by the company to say
goodbye. Jubilant cheers were mixed with nostalgia as the Defender rolled away
after almost 70 yers of production.
