Grade 4
Deductive Method
Remedial

I. Objectives:
At the end of 30-minute discussion the Grade 4 Dela Merced learners are expected to do the following
with at least 85% level of accuracy:

a. recognize words with consonant digraph ch and sh


b. sort pictures and words with ch and sh sound through given activity; and
c. create ch and sh book using cutout pictures

II. Subject Matter: Consonant Digraphs – ch and sh


Materials: Pictures, flip chart and visual aids.

III. Procedure
A. Preparation
Good afternoon, class! (Good afternoon, teacher!) Before we start, please stand up and let’s
recognize the presence of our Almighty God. You may now have your seats. How are you today?
(We’re fine, teacher.) What can you say about the weather today? (Today is a sunny day, it’s a fine
day.)

Okay, I want you to look at what I have here. What can you see? (Stars, teachers.) That’s
right. These are “very good or good job stars”. Do you want to have stars? (Yes, teacher.) Okay, I am
going to give you stars as we go with our discussion today. But in order for you to receive stars.
What are the things that we need to remember when we need to remember? (Listen, behave,
participate, cooperate.) that’s right. Every time you participate in our lesson today, you are going to
earn your good job stars. Is that clear? (Yes, teacher.)

B. Recall
I have here words on the board , listen as I read it to you. Now let’s read it all together. ( teacher and
students read ) Who can read alone? ( student read alone ) Very good!
 What did you observed to the words we’ve read ?
 What are the words that has a ch sound ?
 What are the words that has a sh sound?

C. Recall of the Rule


The words we have read has a 2 consonant that are joined together and form one new sound,
they are a consonant digraph. The words earlier has a digraph of sh - as in she or wish and ch - as
in chair or chat .
D. Explaining
I have here words on the board , listen as I read it to you. Now let’s read it all together. ( teacher and
students read ) Who can read alone? ( student read alone ) Very good!

Now class, I have prepared an activity. This activity is called “Pick the Words and Pictures
Sort ” I here two boxes , a box contains a photo and a box of words What you are going to do is to
pick a picture and words then identify and paste it to where it belongs. If the words and pictures
belong to the sh digraph paste it on the jar that label SH and if it belong to ch paste it on the jar that
label CH. Did you understand? (Yes, teacher)

Now, let’s check if you were able to put the words and pictures in their corresponding jars.
What word and pictures belongs to the sh jar?
