Darious Crawford

Comm 1010
Activity #1: Narrative Manuscript outline

Introduction

"In 2003, while my mother was pregnant with me, she represented herself, with no legal

background, in a 1-month pregnancy. People in the community were telling her to get rid of the

pregnancy, and the baby Mama had no dad. "Being born from that, no matter what kind of

success I have or what I achieve, I think deep inside I'm always going to be a fighter," In a

charming town called New Kru Town in Liberia, the world is set to witness the arrival of a baby,

a unique soul, marking the dawn of a new day. I am Crawford, and one of my childhood

nicknames was "Clack," a name given to me by my grandmother Betty. My grandmother comes

to mind whenever I think about my name and nickname. I would love to share a story about how

my grandmother Betty convinced my mother to name me Darious Crawford.

Middle

My mother had not given birth yet, and her due date was approaching. His grandmother, Betty,

suggested Darious Crawford, which she spelled D-a-r-I-o-u-s. The name's origins can be traced

back to a church sermon 2002. My grandmother explained that spelling is a mining tradition in

her family. My grandmother's explanation for the spelling is based on her family tradition.
