33. Can you describe the political situation in your country? What is the composition
of the Left? How much does the Left receive in the polls?

Basically the letf forces, through Alianza País, won the elections with majority at
assembly, but there where political interest that change the political decision to the
right in the first year of governance. Now we are going through a complex moment
where the rightist forces have taken center stage and mark the agenda with the
government. Progresism is divided between the forces of former President Correa and
the forces that have supported the current President Moreno but have begun to
demonstrate their opposition to neoliberal actions and decisions.

34. Is there more than one left wing party in your country?
[If yes, please describe the differences among the parties and indicate whether there
is a prospect of a united Left]

Yes, in ecuador there are five leftist political parties legally registered. These are:
Unidad Popular (maoist ideology), Izquierda Democrática and Alianza País (center-left
side), Pachakutik (party of the indigenous movement) and Socialist Party. The united
left is a historical intention of our party. The difficulties are from the perspective of
taking power to the exercise of it. The current juncture demands a united progressive
force that resists the attack of the right and proposes a project that goes beyond the
so-called Citizen Revolution of former President Correa
