OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE VERDICT OF MONICA KIMANI’S MURDER

Mount Kenya Defenders wishes to express both our satisfaction and applause to
Justice Grace Nzioka on delivering her verdict on Monica Kimani’s death. We wish to
state clearly that we stand firmly against all forms of Femicide and any such acts
must face the full force of the law as has happened today. MK Defenders has and
continues to be totally devoted towards ensuring zero cases of femicide in our country
and region. The verdict as read by Justice Grace Nzioka brings to an end the long
delay for justice to the deceased Monica Nyawira Kimani and her family. There
shouldn’t be any woman or girl or lady who loses their life in the hands of predatory
humans. We continue to urge the government and other key stakeholders to intensify
efforts towards ending all forms of Femicide. Lastly as we applaud Justice Grace
Nzioka we implore the rest of the Judiciary to follow suit on all matters relating to
femicide and hasten the long-delayed justice for all victims of femicide.
