CONTROL AND ACCESSORIES IN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM If the refrigeration load and capacity of the plant remains constant, there would not be any need to have any control. However in actual practice, both do fluctuate. The cooling load changes due to input condition and changes in the outside conditions. Modern control system are used to control the temperature, humidity and pressure inside the air conditioning system which air most essential phases of the system. The basic control system feels or senses the variation from desired setting and then transits signals to operate valves, dampers, motors and other controlling devices which provide necessary corrective action.

The common item involved are given below 1. Expansion devices a. Automatic expansion valve b. Thermostatic expansion valve 2. Cut out for refrigeration unit a. High pressure cut out b. Low pressure cut out 3. Back pressure valves 4. Liquid level regulating devices a. High side float valve b. Low side float valve 5. Flow regulating devices a. Solenoid valves b. Check valve c. Water and brine valves 6. Thermostats a. Evaporator thermostats b. Room thermostats 7. Humidity control 8. Motors control

ACCESSORIES USED IN REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITION SYSTEM

An accessory can be defines as a device that adds to the convenient or the effectiveness of the total system, but it is not a required component. Accessories are used to add the refrigeration or air condition system to operate the refrigeration and air conditioning system to operate more efficiently, economically or to certain specification. There are many accessories available for use on refrigeration and air conditioning system Some of these are 1. Accumulators a. They are designed to prevent the liquid refrigerant and oil from returning to the compressors where it could possibly cause several damage. b. The liquid refrigerant is boiled of and returned to the compressor as vapour c. The oil is retuned to the crankcase through a metering hole located in accumulator tubing. d. Accumulators are installed in the suction line immediately before the compressor suction service 2. Filter driers a. They are used in refrigerating system to remove the moisture ,dirt and other detoris from the system b. Moisture is probably the most harmful contaminant that can enter in a refrigeration system c. They are installed in the liquid line where both the refrigerant and moisture are concentrated. 3. Strainers

a. Strainers are shell like device placed in the refrigerant lines to remove the foreign particles b. They are installed directly ahead of the system component they are to protect.
4. Moisture liquid indicator a. Moisture and liquid indicator are glass that is placed in the liquid line between the condenser or receiver and the flow control device. b. Their purpose is to all the technician to easily determine if the system has a sufficient refrigerant charge or if there is moisture in this system.

5. Oil separators

The purpose of an oil separator is to maintain the desired oil level in the compressor crankcase during the operation. b. Also these devices are designed to separate the oil from the refrigerant and return the oil to compressor crankcase to prevent the lubrication problem. c. The oil separator is installed in the discharge line between the compressor and the condenser.

6. Vibration eliminators

a. A vibration eliminator is a flexible metallic hose that effectively separates the compressor from the refrigerant line. b. In most installations, the vibration eliminator is installed in the discharge line. c. when extreme vibration is encountered, vibrator eliminator are installed in both the discharge and suction line
7. Discharge mufflers a. They are used to damper the pulsating noise created by the compressor pumping. b. The discharge muffler is usually installed as close to the compressor discharge as possible. c. Most hermetic compressors are designed with the muffler inside the shell
