Team Project (20 marks)


MBA Strategic Management
General description:
Students are asked to submit a full strategic management plan of a real life organisation. Including a
full analysis of external and internal environment, and how it should be implemented, evaluated and
controlled.

The groups are required to cover the following:


(According to the strategic management process fully explained with real examples during the
lectures):
1. Overview of the organization (1.5 marks)
2. Brief evaluation of the organization’s current situation (current performance, strategic
position (vision, mission, objectives, strategies and policies). (1.5 marks)
3. A scan of the external environment: (2.5 marks)
 Remote environment
 Task environment
 Opportunities & threats
4. A scan of the internal environment (2.5 marks)
 Value chain analysis
 Resource based view
 Organizational culture
 Strengths & weaknesses

5. Analysis of the strategic factors (2.5 marks)

6. Strategic objectives and strategies (2.5 marks)


Generate long term objectives and develop strategies in order to select the appropriate
strategy.

7. The implementation (1 mark)


Suggesting different programs and action plans to implement the suggested strategy.

8. Evaluation and control (1 marks)


Develop a Balanced Scorecard

Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the project, students will be able to:
 Evaluate the market opportunities and threats.
 Conduct an internal scanning to reflect the organisation’s internal conditions and capabilities.
 Formulate, implement and control strategies for exploiting business opportunities.
 Critically assess the overall business strategies.
 Develop strategic plans.
