regenerativa.

Regenerative agriculture uses techniques well known to past generations. This is

the case of crop rotation: the intensive cultivation of the same plant species causes

the soil to lose its properties. Therefore, by recovering this technique, plant

varieties capable of enriching the soil with the minerals consumed by the previous

crop can be chosen.

The continuous mechanical and chemical stress of the soil only limits its fertility

over time. It is better to adopt reduced soil work, avoiding plowing too deep,

repeated passes through the fields with machinery or uprooting wild plants.

According to regenerative agriculture, the soil should never be left without plants:

plant cover is therefore essential. The use of practices such as green manure,

which is the cultivation of certain herbaceous species to promote soil fertility, is

encouraged. In an analysis published in 2021 in the journal Nature Food, which

examined the results of 57 studies published between 2000 and 2018, demand for

food is likely to increase by 35% to 56% between 2010 and 2050.

According to regenerative agriculture, the soil should never be left without plants:

plant cover is therefore essential. The use of practices such as green manure,

which is the cultivation of certain herbaceous species to promote soil fertility, is

encouraged. Then, of course, waste reduction is very important. An attempt is

made to recover as much rainwater as possible, surplus crops are used to feed
livestock and fertilization is carried out, for example, with organic fertilizers

recovered from livestock production, thus feeding the circular economy.

EXPLICANDO TU COMPRENSIÓN DEL ARTÍCULO.

Regenerative agriculture is increasingly being presented in the media as a

seemingly new form of agriculture. The surprisingly simple solutions and quick
successes that are often proclaimed deserve a closer look. A first assessment from
the perspective of organic farming. Approaches to the concrete implementation of
regenerative agriculture are often very different. However, a common objective is
always the accumulation of humus.
In addition to the term regenerative, the terms restorative or syntrophic are also
used and an intersection with permaculture can be found. Regenerate generally
means to restore something, so here, above all: to rebuild the soil, mainly by
increasing the humus content. An important concern, especially in times of climate
change. scientific findings, even with perennial clover grass, a maximum of about
1,000 kg C per hectare per year is available for humus formation under optimal
conditions, and about 100-250 kg C with catch crops and subsoil crops.

Based on this, the practices he proposes are characterized by eliminating tillage,

which breaks the soil structure; maintaining vegetation cover, so as not to leave the
land bare and prevent soil erosion; increasing plant diversity and production;
combining agriculture and livestock, using grazing animals to fertilize the land,
while the animals enjoy a good diet; planning to make better use of water; and
avoiding the use of heavy machinery, fertilizers and fertilizers;
