On my fourteenth birthday I was given my hobby in a little box. To my surprise it was orchid seeds.

I
planted them and waited patiently until they grew. Months have passed and still no sign of growth. I
started reading about them and discovered that they needed a long time to blossom. I didn’t want to
give up and I cared for them patiently. I stared at them every day like they would blossom if I looked at
them. After 3 years of patience, I was able to see the first blossom. My patience had finally paid off and I
was seeing a purple petal. Without realizing, gardening had become my hobby and I get happiness by
cutting off weeds and spraying water on my flowers. I bought some lilies, roses and dandelions and now
my garden is filled with harmonious blend of purple, white and rose. I take a book from my shelf and sit
with my legs crossed in my garden and admire the diversity. I feel satisfied with the effort and patience I
put in to see this beauty. Those were my seeds and these are my children and I feel like home when I am
between them. I also have them on my windows and I get to see them every morning and I plan to take
them wherever I go. I want to join the Dartmouth Gardening club and also fill the campus with beauty
because I believe that the earth laughs with flowers.
